Get some of Newcastle From what I've seen, the layout and a lot of buildings are the most similar now to then. I love looking at old pictures

I really wish they'd saved more bottle kilns. It would have been unfeasible to keep them all but there are so few left it's really quite tragic. If they'd kept them and the council made a proper effort to sort out a volunteers' group to maintain them I'm sure it would have been worth it to preserve the most iconic symbol of our heritage.
I for one would definitely be happy giving up one or two Sundays of my year to blast all the grime and weeds off one with a power washer!

Could work really well as an outreach project from the Etruria Industrial Museum, ok many bottle ovens have gone but there\s plenty more industrial heritage falling into ruins. Bottle ovens weren't built to have a working life of more than about 50 years though, were they?? Any experts??

Not all that old... the first two are supposedly from 1986. The Victoria Ground, Biltons Tableware(and The Vine/O'leary's) and Royal Doulton Offices which is now Sainsbury's in Stoke.

Blimey that last picture of Doultons down Stoke brings back memories. We used to park on their car park on match days when we played at The Vic!
