I reckon Geoff would really take to caravanning, or possibly a narrowboat trip taking in some nice country pubs

Stoke City: Geoff Cameron prepared to fight for central spot ... if he stays GEOFF Cameron says he is prepared to fight for a place in Stoke's central spine ... if he is still with the club when he recovers from injury. Cameron is determined to get a chance in the Premier League in central defence or midfield after two years at right-back, but knows he is down the pecking order at the Potters. The 29-year-old was given a chance in the middle against Portsmouth on Wednesday only to suffer a side strain which is expected to keep him out for two weeks. He has been linked with a dozen clubs across Europe from Lazio to Sunderland following his performances for the United States at the World Cup. And, with transfer deadline day on Monday, he said: "We'll see what happens. "I'm here with Stoke, but there's speculation about this and that. I'm just going to keep doing my job." He added: "I've always done stuff for the team, whatever the team needs and I've had no problem doing that, but I think for my career I need to sort out a position that I'm the best at, most comfortable with and confident at. "We've had a conversation and said if they want the best player I can be, it will be in those two positions they'll get the most out of my ability. "I know there are guys in front of me who the manager trusts and have got great results, so I've got bide my time. "Of course I'm prepared to fight for that place, just like any professional." Cameron has made 80 appearances for Stoke since joining from Houston Dynamo for £2m in 2012, and has hardly suffered an injury until this week. Phil Bardsley, who has taken the right-back slot in the league, is also struggling with a knee injury ahead of today's trip to Manchester City (3pm). That could leave Andy Wilkinson returning to the position he lost to Cameron two years ago. Cameron said: "When I first got here I was thrown in at right-back because of an injury, did well and ended up playing there for a whole season. "It was a good thing and a bad thing, but it's got me over 60 games starting in the Premier League, some really good results, good times and good play. "It's a position I've learned and got better at, but it's still not the most confident player when you're in a position that you're not comfortable in. "I'm happy that I've been able to play every single weekend but there comes a time when a player needs to say ok, I want to play in this position. "But if there is a day the coach needs me to play right-back I will do, no problem." Southampton have made inquiries to take Cameron's compatriot Brek Shea on loan. Both players had been called up for the United States' friendly against the Czech Republic on Wednesday, although Cameron will still be in the treatment room. STOKE'S trip to Sunderland in the Capital One Cup third round will take place on Tuesday, September 23 (7.45pm). www.stokesentinel.co.uk/Stoke-City-Geoff-Cameron-prepared-fight-central/story-22849390-detail/story.html

I've give him a chance in the middle on the strength of his performance there for USA in the WC.

He was magnificent against Germany at the World Cup, where he played central midfield. Doesn't mean he could become a top midfielder for us but it's enough to give him a chance.

Close those legs, Wilf lad. He's probably in the 'Legs Wide Open' club along with Katie Price, Joe Hart, and the female members of Geordie Shore

We may have found the answer to replacing Glen while he is injured GW has been great there, but I still think Geoff is the better player in that position and I'd like to see him there permanently.

For me Cameron is a far better player than Whelan. Whelan is at best a squad player whilst Cameron showed at the World Cup just how good he can be in that position. If Cameron is unavailable then fine, put Whelan in, otherwise Cameron should be first choice. This would also head off mounting interest from Steve Bruce who seems to have a hard on for our Geoff.
