New thread? Yeah why not. Fucking love the franchise and only last night did I start getting the hype train for the new one.
MGS gets bashed for it's overly long dialogue and cut scenes. But I enjoy the inane shit that goes on. So it troubles me that they go through the effort of getting rid of stalwart David Hayter and conscript Kiefer Sutherland (also enjoyed the little contribution he's made), only to give him fuck all dialogue lines in the new one. Some of the people that played it at E3 said there's occasions were someone's screaming at Big Boss and several occasions pass where he's just mute. Fuck knows if this is due to Konami being a massive dick end or Kojima?
Anyway. Roll on September. Just give me enough time to finish the Witcher 3 ffs.

Yeah, I have a feeling this could have caused some of the fallout between Kojima and Konami, whether he objected to them being in the game or if they stuck them in after his departure.
I agree whole heartedly, micro transactions are the cancer of gaming, a long with the day 1 patch culture with developers.

No way Kojima would allow them imo.
I'm not that bothered by them if they aren't gamebreaking (just cosmetics) or they can still all be unlocked without paying and are just a shortcut to something that is attainable by putting time and effort in.
I'd rather they didn't exist but that day will never return.

Fingers crossed that they've just been tacked on at the end of MGS5 and not built into it because anything else with microtransactions in the history of gaming has been a massive boring grind without the paid shortcuts; deliberately so. If they sneak by in this without too much uproar then I can see them creeping into everything in the future. Market flooded with boring grindy games - and another gaming crash. |

Just watched that half hour clip, that looks fucking ace but I know I'll hate it
20 years ago I was pretty good at FPS's, OK maybe not 20 years, I was Ace at Rogue Spear online through the old dial up on PC
Now I just get battered, it's pointless, I can't keep up with what's going on around me nor can my brain tell my fingers what to do quick enough or remember which buttons do what, my 12 yr old lad is amazing at them and it makes me angry that I can't do it anymore, they look brilliant fun

You're a disgrace. Although shooting in first person is an option, Metal Gear is best played as a 3rd person stealth em up. Metal Gear is not just a game, It's a way of life. I cannot fucking wait for next week. |

I had planned to play most the weekend as the Mrs and boy were out Saturday night. Sunk a few hours into it last night. It's fucking incredible truth be told. The first hour or so is one of, if not the best opening sequence in a game I've ever played. Play it either loud / with headphones on or in surround sound if you can. The prologue absolutely deserves it.

He's made me swap my PS4 for an XB1
I've now installed MGS
Haven't played it yet though :-)
