m5 to gloucs this morning = wank (+3hrs) m5 to home this evening = bliss (sub 2 hrs) 'the fuck does that work? it was really weird on Tuesday evening coming back up, I got on the M40 at Warwick (being down in the Cotswolds) and came off the end of the toll road about 5.15pm, and there was hardly anything on the M6, I was able to get over to the inside lane quite regularly without slowing down, felt like I was in an alternative dimension. Last month of the financial year, some companies cutting down on travel, or just most people pissed off with the M6 and keeping away from it ?

Motorways used to be fun, not any more, and it's getting worse.
M40 is really the only remaining motorway of notable length that isn't screwed up completely by traffic jams / oppressive speed enforcement / roadworks, but at the moment they're still a bit tied up with wrecking the M1, M6 and M60. Once those are completely arsed up for everyone, I'm sure they'll look at the M40 in detail.

I stopped at a services on the M5 about 3am and the petrol station had a farm shop. Bought a Wild Boar sandwich, was about £7 and absolutely rank. I think the boar had shat in some bread.
Services near Shap on the M6 has the best shop ...sell whiskeys, gins and great farm foods. Haggis and Tatties pie is worth the trip

Been London for a few hours this very day for a visa appointment. Must have walked around the bastard city 12 or 14 times! Didn't hear a word of the queens spoken for a good 40 minutes or so!
