Pennants apparenty injured "Went training earlier And he limped off half way through with a ice pack On his thigh" He'll be alright Then again, he's got no choice considering we've decided to not bring in a back up for the wings The lineup is slowly looking like this then Begovic Huth Woodgate Shawcross Upson Delap Whitehead Whelan Etherington Walters (not 100%) Jones God almighty

Taken from Paul Mersons blog on skysports.com
"Andre Villas-Boas won't know what day it is when this game kicks off. He won't have seen anything like Stoke City during his time at Porto.
At certain times, Stoke will get the ball down and play, but they play to their strengths and why shouldn't they? Chelsea have got better players, so Tony Pulis knows his best chance is to get the ball in the box quickly. Those tactics have served them well and you don't fix something if it ain't broke. I certainly hope he hasn't changed his philosophy over the summer.
That makes this a hard game for Chelsea. People like John Terry can compete with Stoke's size, but it's a tough first game for a manager who has played good football wherever he's been before. I think he could be shocked by his Premier League baptism.
Chelsea haven't done much in the transfer window, but I think Daniel Sturridge could be like a new signing this year. He's much better than I initially thought he was and will have an impact after his suspension. I'd probably start Didier Drogba, especially if Fernando Torres is injured, because he can have an impact in both boxes. A big centre-forward is a massive advantage against Stoke.
Chelsea have a very experienced team and will be right up there, but anybody who goes to the Britannia Stadium and gets three points nowadays has done very well. They've already got two hard-fought Europa League games under their belts, while Chelsea have been around the world playing here there and everywhere. In that respect, the home team will have the edge.
I think it will be a draw - and I think that's a good result for Chelsea.
PAUL PREDICTS: 1-1
We really have made it. We're officially an established Premier League club
Now get some fucking players in Tone

Always liked Merse as a pundit. Under all the bravado, he's a decent footballing bloke.

Looks like Huth is at right back with Woody and Ryan in the middle and probably Wilson at left back as TP said he hadnt brought Upson in to play left back. Huth at right back is my only defensive concern as he tends to drift inside and allow wingers to get round the back down the flank and whip the ball in. Torres doesnt worry me but Drogba attacking those crosses does. Today we need a little bit extra from our wingers. Pennant especially must do what he can to halt any runs that Cole may make before he gets the chance to run at Huth. We all know Chelsea full backs like to `bomb on`and theres none better at it than Ashley Cole. Having said that, we are going into the game almost at full speed due to our Euro ties and if we stick to our game plan for the full 90 then I think we could cause them problems. I expect we`ll be at them from the start as in the Split home leg. Chances will fall our way but we must convert them, one wont be enough as Chelsea are likely to score aswell. My prediction.... Jones to put us one up with Walters adding another in the first half. Chelsea come out second half to nick one back and we cling to a nail biting and very nervy 2-1 win. I`ll gladly take a point now though ;D ;D

I'm getting in on theses predictions. Right, the team shall be Begovic Huth, Shawcross, Woodgate, Wilson Pennant, Delap, Whelan, Etherington Jones, Walters and that shall be enough to get us the win. Shotton super sub again! Stoke victorious by 2 goals to 1!

Good point, happily take that
Didn't look good with Ethers. Delap's tweaked his hamstring as well. In serious need of reinforcements for Thursday

Wasn't too bad. A draw is a good result when you consider we had to bring Danny Pugh on and they had Drogba in reserve. Terry and Cole are cunts, Torres is a complete pussy.

A seriously good start to the season from the boys especially when you look at the quality of the opposition. Two home draws in succession against Chelsea shows the massive improvement on that first season in the Prem. How on earth do they get away with harrassing the ref? Don't get me started on the girlie named Torres
