O'Neil did a really decent job under difficult circumstances. we are in a good situation now because of his work getting players in and out and steadying the ship after Nathan Jones. But like a few managers previously he stubbornly stuck to his prefered formation. there isn't anything wrong with three at the back if the team knock the ball around quickly and get up the pitch but we were too slow in the build up and it stopped working for us. O'Neill paid the price for that. Fans were always going to lose patience unless we had started the season well even though the poor results were partly down to bad luck, perfectly good goals being disalowed, a missed penalty and a few silly mistakes by players. Glad it,s done now so we can move forward as a club and hopefully challenge for the playoffs with fans, players and manager all pulling in the same direction.
