Used to watch Kidsgrove Athletic (when Stoke were away or not playing) quite often many years ago and always had a good day out, so I was wondering if any of you follow your local non-league teams and how much does it cost these days etc.
discuss....

I used to watch Kidsgrove as well many years ago.
I do watch local non league, the Cheshire league (formerly what Kidsgrove were in when it was the Mid Cheshire) some are £2 some are free, and Crewe & District league games, all games are free to watch.

My local non league teams used to be kidderminster harriers and telford united, both of whom me and my old man used to watch if we weren't at stoke. Been to wembley with telford and halesowen town. Also seen leek town a few times, my old man knows neil baker.

I go to Kidsgrove a fair bit. I've got a few mates who play for them and I also used to play for the under-18's. None related fact but I once set up the winning goal against a Stoke Academy team in a friendly with a peach of a through ball.

Hollyoaks babes? No the one Stoke Ramblers v OO select bunch of pensioners and rif raf I see. Is that for charity? No, I'm not playing in that Sid. Last time I played in one of those was about 5 years ago. It was a decent crack but I don't post enough on there any more. And when I do, it's just a load of bollocks. Are you playing?

This is the official sign up thread for a Charity Friendly between two Stoke fans teams. The ancient Oatcake Occasionals and League team Stoke Ramblers The match will take place in the morning of the Liverpool home game and all proceeds will go to charity. Anyone posting on the Oatcake can play for the OO's though we hope to welcome back a number of our veterans. The game will have rolling subs so our veterans can play as long or as little as their legs will take The winning team will receive the Winger trophy in honour of the recently deceased and much missed Stoke author Stephen Foster who was a regular for early OO's teams. There will be a minutes silence before the game. Details; Saturday September 10th KO 10.30 am Venue - Bradeley Football Development Centre, Chell Heath Road Cost £5 per player Bring Black shorts Read more: oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Potters&action=display&thread=172202#ixzz1XGGC7BhUYes I have stupidly put myself down to play ;D I have not played 11 a side since I was in my early 30's too

I'll also watch either Halesowen Town or Stourbridge Town but non-league is dear. Kiddy is around the £20 mark, and Stourbridge & Halesowen are about a ten spot, whoch given the standard is barely above the best Sunday League football down here, it's a bit of a con.

It's because, even at that level, players get ridiculous money. I know people at four/five levels below Conference level who could probably live off the wage they get from playing semi-professional football. Some players at Nantwich Town are rumoured to be on £300 a week.

I used to go Norton Utd FC every so often. Really ought to start going again seeing as theyre only 2 mins walk away from where i live. I do love non league football always buy the Non League paper every Sunday. Always keep my eye out for Mundford FC's results. Theyre a village side from Norfolk where i lived for 6 months. They play in the Anglian Combination League, which is about same level as Staffs Senior League. Goooaaarnnnn Mundford!!! www.mundfordfc.co.uk/club/Home

Kinver aren't you VP? My proper local non league team when i lived in that area was bridgnorth town, carl saunders ended up there at one point, very low standard though, midland alliance or whatever. Went to the welsh cup semi final with kiddy harriers home and away against wrexham in the 80's. Think it was about 7 quid to get in back then. I know a fella who goes mansfield every week and he pays around the 20 quid mark.

I used to go see Leek Town a lot in the 90's when Stoke didn't have a game but now I tend to go to Buxton as it's only a few hundred yards away from my house and they sell proper ale Turning into a lazy git in my old age
