Just bumped into an old friend and been nattering about yesterday's game as you do.
Between us we've just worked out that it's won 6 and drawn 2 - that's an unbeaten run ;D Not bad when you look at those horrific first three home fixtures.

I was fearing the worst for this seasons opening fixtures. I thought we could get a point against Chelsea, probably lose at WBA ( its got to happen sometime ), Norwich for their first home game looked very tricky and Liverpool were far better than theyve been for years but thought we might scrape a draw. I didnt think one goal at home would be enough to beat Split either. Shows how much I know. On that basis Im going for a draw at Blunderland and a home defeat to the shit so theres another six points in the bag ;D

AND only two goals conceeded in all competitions. That's pretty decent.

We've not been that good, just lucky to get results.

We've not been that good, just lucky to get results. Top teams grind out results while not playing particularly well.

I'm very happy with the fact we are FOURTH in the league, over the bloody moon in fact.
But everyone is creaming themselves over how awesome we've been when in fact, we haven't deserved to win any of our matches in the league.
Just want everyone to calm down really, we're getting too big for our boots.

Over the moon at being fourth and the start but lets be honest that was no where good enough if we are expecting to "push on" We gave them more of a game last season.

Just to point out that we've played double the amount of games as anyone else we've played so far... So we've not been at our best with a half fit team playing twice a week and yet we're still getting results.

Can't really compare last season's Liverpool with this one. Last season they were on their arse and absolutely dreading playing us with a shit squad; this season though they've got a far better squad, loads more confidence and coming to the Brit to try and prove that they can challenge the Manchester clubs and Chelsea for the title. I don't really understand the criticism of how we set up against them, they weren't there for the taking, they look like a top 4 team and have been brimming with confidence since Dalglish turned things around last season. They'd just beaten Arsenal away and Bolton at home, starting to get counted amongst the title contenders. We've had a threadbare squad up until the Liverpool game... and we're not going to be outplaying a confident Liverpool team, I don't know what people are expecting really. Wait until we're playing the likes of Blackburn, Wigan...etc with this stronger squad to judge how far we've come.

But we keep saying this year in year out, we are evolving etc etc, why is it not a realistic expectation that we can play against a Liverpool team and expect more than 1 shot on target (and that was a penalty). I am totally with you on the games played front and all that Jazz I just expected a little bit more maybe I have become a victim of our own success too? Are Liverpool really that mighty with all the changes to the squad that we have to basically turn into Alamo mode? I will stand by my statement that the tactics were still a little baffling to me but it is all about opinions.

More so that we can only manage 1 shot on target in a full 90 minutes of football at our own ground with 25,000 fans roaring us on, I really don't buy that it has to be down to tactics?
