Can't wait till Forza 4 comes out, luckily I have a PS3 and XBOX, and Forza 3 is great, so much so, i've been playing it again.
Gran Turismo 5 was such a let down, I may sell my copy

Neither console is capable of doing justice to a driving game with the technology out there anymore. There may be a few more aesthetic touch ups but nothing too revolutionary is left to do in this generation of consoles. The truth of the matter is they've reached the point where they're holding game developers back now I'm really hoping the current consoles don't get dragged out too much longer.
I was quite disappointed with Forza 3 though, don't know what it was just didn't get into it I had it for a couple of weeks then traded it in.

I want a good (cheapish too) PS3 driving game. Any recommendations? Strongly recommend Motorstorm Apocalypse. Most fun driving game I've ever played on, awesome online too. Its the same price as most normal PS3 games, but its well worth it.

GT5 at the end of the day has been a let down due to one think or another.
Dirt 3 is a fantastic driving game. Not a pure rally simulation, but heaps of character and very enjoyable. Only 26 quid on shopto now.

I found the first 2 Dirt games the cars were uncontrollable, they floated no matter the set up so have steered clear of Dirt 3...
F1, even though it can take an age due to practise and qualification laps, is superb..
The latest 'Need for Speed shift 2' was shite as well..

Ridge Racer Type 4 is still the greatest driving game ever ever, it had the Grand Prix events where you picked a team that gave you a new concept style car after every few races in a series. Getting a new car was brill.
The newest one 'Ridge Racer 7' on the other hand was the worst driving game ever, you couldn't physically crash... if you tried to turn 10 seconds before the corner, to hit the wall on purpose you'd start a perfect power slide all the way around the bend... if you tried hit the back wall by not braking for the corner and taking it at 200mph you'd do a perfect power slide around the corner. Fucking awful game.

Some of my favourite racing games go back to the old days being honest with you..
Destruction Derby was a whole lot of fun well the first 2 are.. Micro Machines as well on the Mega drive is great and would buy again if they released it tbh.. Ridge Racer 1 was a great game but fun.
Recently Would go for Grid and Forza 3 but that is it really!

This thread is dedicated to all driving games, on all platforms, from all eras. Obviously for many years, Gran Turismo was the mutts nuts, but it dropped the ball with Gran Turismo 5, so long in the making, it should have been far far better than it was, I was hugely dissapointed with it. However in a few weeks Forza 4 will be out, so here is my previous post about it I was a huge fan of Forza 3, have all the DLC, and even traded the original in to get The Ultimate Collection version. I can drift very very well, but am not hardcore enough to roll with the best drifters. What I am fucking good at it is Tag, I have in excess of 20 cars set up and prepped for A600 class tag, and another 10 with an S700 class set up for the new Tag online stuff. I'd really love a bike version of Forza though, nobody has done a bike style game like that since Riding Spirits 1 & 2 on the Playstation 2, which used the Gran Turismo 3 game engine

I got it on PS3 I rented it, the handling is woeful but I enjoyed it for what it was. Test Drive Unlimited has always had an Arcade-ey feel to its handling, better than ridge racer, but not a Sim. I'm dissappointed by the lack of Bikes, which made the original a real dual concept game. Its wiled away a good few hours today, so thats all good anyway
