We've all seen them, players that arrive like a bonfire rocket and then their career goes the same way just as quick-back down to earth. My offering is Nathan Ellington. 94 goals in his first 220 odd games (yes most were in the lower divisions but thats how most English players make their names nowadays)and then the gradual slide back down into obscurity. And then the final shame of signing for Ipswich.

Freddy Adu.
Must have absolute bucket loads of natural talent with the way he generally regarded as the next big thing; but hasn't really done anything, and just keeps being shipped out on loan now from Benfica.

Perfect example. Was the best player in his age group aged 15/16. Had a trial at Man Utd etc Last I heard he played a few games for some Portuguese club. EDIT! In the Turkish 2nd division now, Chist!

Jeez, worse than I though.
2004–2006 D.C. United 87 (11) 2007 Real Salt Lake 11 (2) 2007– Benfica 11 (2) 2008–2009 → AS Monaco (loan) 9 (0) 2009 → Belenenses (loan) 3 (0) 2010 → Aris (loan) 9 (1) 2011 → Çaykur Rizespor (loan) 11 (4)
Was the youngest ever player to get a pro contract aged 14, and scored in the MLS aged 14 too!

Samba/Adu are he perfect examples of players hyped up because of Football Manager. Adu may be helped because in reality he's 30 now, so was coming into his prime back then! Darren Anderton could have done better. He was a very good player and should have done more in the game that he did.

I haven't played on FM since the 06 one. Sergey Kisliy was a beast on that along with Adu.

It says he's a central midfielder, that record is outstanding for a central midfielder even in the Norwegian league. I'm presuming Kisliy is dead or just not in football any more!

Ronaldinho He is already considered one of the greatest players ever and won the WPOTY award a couple of times. But with a bit more longevity he could of left Pele and Maradona in his shadow easily. He had a few years at the top (05-07) where no one could touch him and his incredible skills were worthy of the trophies he and Barcelona got. But these skills meant he had won everything from domestic cups right up to the World Cup. It is evident that this made Ronnie think he didn't need to do anything anymore so his game dropped and he put on a bit of weight, probably due to some partying. He moved to Milan where he started to show his brilliance again, but his best has surpassed him by then and he was a shadow of his former self. I can't help but think if he'd put the same amount of effort into his game from 07 onwards than he did from 05-07 he would of been the[/b] best player of all time.
