Suppose that applies to any game in one way or another. You won't get a game that doesn't give you a succesful outcome eventually. In games where you get killed you get infinite lives to keep trying until you get it right. If you mess up on a certain level you don't just skip it and go to the next, you keep doing it until you get it right. Understand your point though mate. Not all games are like that, I finished Mass Effect 2 before playing through LA Noir and the difference was so glaringly obvious. In Mass Effect everything can go wrong, you can finish the game in different ways and with a completely different team (or no team at all) if you fuck up during the game... then your decisions carry over into the next game. LA Noir put a lot of emphasise on the decisions you make, the fact that it doesn't matter is shit. I remember on an important interview, that I completely fucked up on purpose to see what happened, it just said I had to start it again. Which was a shame, it could have been a brilliant game. Right, I'm with you now. Fair points. I still hope they make a second one and I haven't finished this one yet. If they tweak it there is the basis of a very good game in there for my money.

If they tweak it there is the basis of a very good game in there for my money. Yeah, imagine if the decisions that you make (or lack of decisions) actually affected things. Say you don't get the killer and the case just stays open or they keep killing... or if you send the wrong person to court with shit evidence; you get absolutely fucked. That would be an immense game.

Thats what I was thinking.
It would be better if your mistakes led to Criminals getting away with their crimes.
Perhaps crossing paths later on in the game with a second chance to bring them down or even getting away altogether and appearing again in the sequel??

Mass Effect 2 was one of the few games where it was possible to fail, there is even an ending I think where you can not only lose all your team but just outright fail as well (no carry over to 3 with that ending though) but few games have the depth of the ME series.
How many other games let you smack a woman in the face for asking stupid questions?

All games should allow that.

All games should allow that. They should so make a game about domestic violence.

I'm in.
Take it on Dragons Den, Ian.
As part of your pitch, to demonstrate the basis of the game, you could smack Deborah in the fucking face, the miserable fucking bitch.

Oh, I'd knock her clean out, mate. She'd be finding bits of teeth for days on end.

I work with a woman that looks like Deborah Meaden, she's a fucking dick. One of them cunts that get in your way then roll their eyes when you have the cheek to need to get past. If you need to practice before you go in the den, you could come and punch this woman in the face. (picture is there to keep it on topic slightly)

Realise I'm 2 years late on this, but finally got round to playing it recently and loved it. Really well written, acted and feel to it. Hope they do make a second one, does anyone know if it's in the pipeline?
