Was watching Loose Women (ny bird made me, fuck off) the other day and they were on about plans to put CCTV cameras in classrooms to keep an eye on teachers.
What are peoples (especially parents) thoughts on this?
In my opinion its an awful idea. Yes it could stop some horrendous things happening but isn't it a case of extreme paranoia? It seems to me like a presumption that all teachers are paedophiles, and they have to constantly prove they aren't. Secondly, where would it end? Cameras in teachers homes? Every hospital room? Every computer monitored? Ex-convicts having to carry a webcam? Talking about it at the time I made the comparison 'its like putting 100 people in a room, suspecting one of them is a pick-pocket and making the other 99 strip' which I thought was quite clever.
P.s -I've done this thread on a shitty, broken Blackberry so forgive any mistakes

No need what so ever.
If I was a teacher or a student I'd feel really uncomfortable knowing I was being constantly watched, could even affect my learning.

Would feel on edge and wouldn't be able to concentrate if I knew I had a camera on me at all times

It's not important or likely to happen, which is why they let women give their opinion on it.

Would feel on edge and wouldn't be able to concentrate if I knew I had a camera on me at all times You always seem at ease when we're having a webcam session, Oners. You're not shy anyway. Brad - It's a stupid idea. Like every other idea that is put forward, it's based on scare-mongering and over-reactions. You can't treat teachers like criminals just in case. Hopefully it won't ever be implemented. There's so many better things to spend money on. We're wasting £4 Billion a year in Afghanistan and have spent £250 Million in Libya already.

There has always been Camera's in classrooms, hasn't there?
You should see some of my "DVD Collection". I don't know where the footage comes from if there are no camera's in there.
