Sorensen Shotton - Shawcross - Upson - Wilson Tonge - Whitehead - Arismendi - Pugh Walters Jones Go for the early goal, then go defensive, at 2-0 on agg, go 4-5-1 and at home vs FC Thun we'll cruise to a win. Give JP a rest which he needs, and Walters too, maybe even start 4-5-1 and give Cuvelier a chance? ;D

Kenwyne and Jonny up the top look knackered. How I wish we had somebody, anybody who could let them rest before the baggies.

I don't know if it is insane Sal but I honestly don't see these scoring here. They were poor at their place and over here with the atmosphere it could well finish them off.
I would give the lad 45 mins up there see if he can do anything, he looked very good when he came on against Norwich yesterday.

Am I right in thinking even if we sign a player before Thursday they can't play in this game, as the "tie" has already started

Just had a look and Thun won 0-2 away at Young Boys at the weekend, thats their Derby game isn't it ? They are still unbeaten in the Swiss League

Yes mate they are rivals, I say rivals- they are the local Derby I suppose, nothing to rival in Thun.
I think the game was a domestic cup if im right.

I'm hoping that they have the same issues on the grass pitch as we had on the astro (although unlikely) Diego seemed to be the only player who could pass in our team... For me, either; Sorro Shotts Huth Upson Wilson (Maybe DC) Tonge Diego Deano Matty Jones Walters
or
Sorro Shotts Huth Upson Wilson (DC) Tonge Diego Deano Pugh Ethers Jones

not sure about shawx, if he gets another booking does he miss a group stage game? I have a feeling that these preliminary rounds are separate from the group stages, so the card count will be wiped out when we go into the group stages. I don't know whether someone can clarify this though..?

Huth and Etherington are banned for Thursday and most probably Pennant out injured.
Who for the wings? Tonge on the right and Wilson or Pugh for the left, with Wilko and Collins as full backs? In the middle Shawcross and Upson?

Begovic, Woodgate, Pennant and Delap to be rested, Etherington and Huth both suspended. I think the team will be: Sorensen Wilkinson Shawcross Upson Wilson Walters Whelan Whitehead Pugh Tonge Jones Stoke 2-0 Thun (Jones x2)

One hour to go and I'm on my way to England... Yes we won our last (derby) game away against Young Boys which is the team closest to our town (and a bunch of bloody idiots on and off the pitch) ;D It was the game with us as the league leaders against them as second placed team for the domestic league. They were dominant in the beginning, but we scored a penalty at the half an hour mark, afterwards our keeper Da Costa produced some fine saves before we finished the game off in the last few minutes with what was actually our second shot on goal... Da Costa will be suspended for his silly red card last Thursday. As I said before we lack offensive firepower to compete at this level. Given the rock solid defence of your lot, it would really be a miracle if we could turn fortunes around... Anyway it's nice to go back to England for a football game I wish everyone an entertaining game (and us a fabulous away win on penalties.... ) PS. You will see the tiniest group of away supporters ever at your ground I'm afraid....

Have a good time around Stoke if you can find anything to actually do!
I think you will get a warm reception from Stokies, if anybody actually bumps into any of you ;D
Before yesterday I was 100% confident, but some miserable knobheads on the other forum have made me a little nervous, but I suppose it's better to be nervous than complacent.
