i'm going to the rene magritte exhibit at the liverpool tate tomorrow, so i figured you can put up some pictures of girls with their nips on show and get away with it!! i'd see how cultured the rest of you lot are magritte is by far my favourite painter ever.. but pre-1900, i'd go with van eyck. i love this painting because he signed it "jan van eyck was here 1434" in graffiti on the wall as part of the picture.. and then my favourite actual painting ever is holbein's 'the ambassadors'.. because when you view it as the right angle, you can see that the weird thing at the bottom is actually a skull

Rossetti and Millias. Both are invariably connected, Rossetti painted Beata Beatrix in memory of his wife, Elizabeth Siddal: Years before Millias had painted Death of Ophelia, featuring Elizabeth: In terms of Modern Art, I have a few pieces of Shepherd Fairey around the house which I adore, including this one in the dining room: She's called Vivi La Revolucion and is a signed limited edition of 500

I managed to get three hours in the National Gallery a few weeks ago free of the kids ;D I must admit to being partial to Canaletto and Turner. Of the contempory stuff I've got a fantastic book on the paintings of Theodore Major and seen some of the stuff in a private collection. Amazing
