After all the knicker-wetting over Dave Grohl carrying on the show after breaking his leg (which he didn't even do*), to then cancel the rest of the tour is fucking pony in my opinion.
*He went to hospital then came back over an hour later.
But to be fair to Dave Grohl, he does sing from his leg...
Load of shite.

Does he need his leg to sing and play guitar?

You're a strange one Les Absolutely, much better, a big part of their live shows is his stage presence, it's what makes him a great front man. He's an excellent musician but God knows he's not a great live singer
