All virgin customers will have a nice letter coming through informing you of an increase, £3.50 PCM on my bundle plus an extra 25p for a paper bill, bthey now charge me £1.75 PCM to tell me how much I owe them, bastards. I complained last night, got me no where If you want to you can cancel your contract free of charge, says so on the small print on that letter. I'd do it if the alternative wasn't 1 meg internet. It's being pathetic again at the moment, I'm basically restricted to playing games on week nights. Might ring up and moan my tits off if it carries on. Anybody else getting Jon Parkin speeds rather than usain Bolt?

never had any major problems with Virgin although it's very rare that I get near to the 10meg that I'm supposed to get. Was suprised with the above result, so tested again and back to normal.... Fuck right off Richard Branson and Usain Bolt can fuck off too.

I hate how they throttle your speed by 75% for 5 hours (normally way more than 5 hours) when you go over your 1.5GB (1 film) download limit.
Sky don't throttle your speed at all. I think I'm going to switch to Sky.

I have an unlimited download limit. (although they can try to bring in all that fair usage bollocks which should be made illegal)

(although they can try to bring in all that fair usage bollocks which should be made illegal) It should be illegal to use the word 'unlimited' when referring to their broadband if they do have a fair usage policy that limits the speed (especially when it's by fucking 75%)!

The Xbox is connected through the thernet all the time anyway. On wireless it used to pick up past speeds and low ping. I have a password too, no problems there, changed it aswell just to make sure nobody had got through anyway. No idea what to do about it.

If you're on 10meg with virgin it's no longer unlimited. It was unlimited about 18 months ago but its now classed as their lowest package and is subject to peak usage. You can download as much as you want through the night, but if you download during their peak hours you get throttled. I do remember having a great many arguments with them over being throttled.

The thing that makes me most angry with Virign is we pay a fortune for 50 meg that gets throttled to shit

I download usually at least 1 7/8gb movie a night and games and such in between. Even on days I've downloaded 20/30gb of information I've not been throttled lol.

Yeah the highest Virgin package shouldn't get throttled. I think there is some smallprint somewhere that states that file-sharing downloading (like torrents) and newsgroups gets throttled on all packages from midday-midnight, regular internet use is supposed to be unaffected but I know that once you've been throttled for file sharing your normal internet speed is reduced by 75% too. I have to choose between downloading in the day and streaming sports at night.
