I'm wondering what the rules are regarding who of our team is elligible for medals. Is being named in the squad enough to get a medal or do they just need to be named a certain amount of times along the way or do they actually need to have spent some time out on the pitch?

from the FA Cup rules and regulations on the FA site:

29. THE FA CUP / FINALIST MEDALS
(a) The FA Cup is the property of The Association. When the winning Club has been
ascertained, The Association shall deliver the Cup to such Club, which shall be responsible
for its return to The Association on or before the first day in March in the ensuing year in
good order and condition. Should the Cup be lost, destroyed or damaged by fire or any
other cause whilst under the care or custody of the Club the Club shall refund to The
Association the amount of its current insured value or the cost of thorough repair in addition
to any other penalty which the Professional Game Board may impose.
(b) In addition to the FA Cup, The Association shall present 30 medals to playing staff and
officials of both Clubs in the Final.

looks like it's up to the club who gets them, unfortunately this dosn't answer the question.

Actually is that 30 medals for each club or 30 medals for both clubs?

30 medals for each club, as 30 medals between would leave only 1 for the whole staff after 11 players and 3 subs per team

I would say its basically 1 per squad member who played in fa cup, plus rest for managers and coaches, and physios etc
