If he met Geoff Boycott, what a sight that would be. G2, or 2G or G-squared, or something like that, mind you Sir Geoff probably had his head turned by Katie Perry, I hope he didnt give her a smack.

He did have a bloody good game. He battered Fellaini and broke things up well. I just wish he'd go in a bit stronger in the tackle, although I guess getting booked early on meant he had to be a bit more cautious.
I thought he was the pick of the US midfield in the game.

Klinsmann: "With Cameron coming in, we hoped he would take care of Marouane Fellaini, and that's exactly what he did. I think he had a very, very good game. Can't argue with that then, Fellaini did absolutely nothing all match.

As well as Glenn did last year, I would love to see him & Zonz in the midfield next season.

The 28-year-old has been given a hero's reception back in his home state of Boston, handed the key to the city of Attleboro. And he was given a rousing welcome at Fenway Park last night when he took the field before the Red Sox took on Kansas City Royals. The Potter might be invited back because he obviously gave his side luck they have been missing so far this season. The Red Sox have been struggling for home runs but managed two, through Xander Bogaerts and Jonny Gomes to come from behind and win 5-4. Let's go @redsox ! What an Amazing experience here at Fenway! Love Boston #bostonstrong pic.twitter.com/3XLMxwBEJT — Geoff Cameron (@geoffcameron) July 18, 2014 Cameron is on extended leave from Stoke while he recuperates from his long season, capped with those games for United States in Brazil. He played three times as the impressive U.S. made it through the group states and came unstuck in extra-time against Belgium.

Stoke City: Geoff Cameron wants to challenge for more central role with the Potters By Rich Sharpe GEOFF Cameron says he is enjoying life at Stoke City but is targeting a more role this season. Cameron made 42 appearances for Stoke last season but was mainly used at right back in his 42 appearances. The 29-year-old featured in central midfield and central defence for the US in the World Cup and Cameron is targeting a place in central defence or central midfield in Mark Hughes's side. Hughes preferred Ryan Shawcross, Robert Huth, Marc Muniesa and Marc Wilson in central defence last year and the Potters boss has already strengthened in defence this summer, bringing in Phil Bardsley and Dionatan Teixeira. Cameron faces competition in the centre of midfield from Glenn Whelan, Steven N’Zonzi, Charlie Adam and new signing Steve Sidwell, showing the strength in depth Hughes has at his disposal. “Obviously, the focus is I still want to start every single week and be a regular player, maybe challenge for a position in central midfield or central back, a position that I’m very comfortable and confident in,” he told nesoccertoday.com “And who knows? Maybe someday play in Champions League. “You don’t ever want to get complacent, but I’m enjoying my time at Stoke.” Cameron was used in the opening two group games in the heart of the US defence at the World Cup as they beat Ghana 2-1 and drew 2-2 with Portugal. The American says he has held his hand up for the opening goal conceded in the game against Portugal, as his fluffed clearance allowed Nani to fire Portugal ahead. The mistake cost Cameron his place for the final group game against Germany before being recalled for the round of 16 game against Belgium. He was deployed in a central midfield role by USA boss Jurgen Klinsmann to counter the threat posed by Marouane Fellaini. “It’s the position I thrive in (central midfield) and enjoy because I think I can use my athletic abilities the best there,” Cameron added. “Whether it’s centre back or defensive midfield, anywhere in the middle of the park, is a place I think I can thrive in. “I knew I was going to be comfortable there, I knew my job was to shut down (Marouane) Fellaini, and get comfortable taking the ball down and help the centre backs. “I think I did my job there that day. “I was disappointed that we didn’t win, but at the end of the day, we all left it all on the field. “Hopefully at the next World Cup, we’ll come back and we’ll make it even further than we did this year.” www.stokesentinel.co.uk/Stoke-City-Geoff-Cameron-wants-challenge-central/story-21938844-detail/story.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+StokeCityFootballClubNews+%28Stoke+City+News%29
