This really is fucking dogshit.
I've gone from top of the league by 14 points to being thrashed 5-1 at home by Bristol City with absolutely no reason why. Most of my fucking players got a rating of 7 or above...

They've been peddling the myth that the ball physics are far superior to FM12 as well even though the ball doesn't ever lose speed
They improved in some areas but failed massively with the Match Engine

There are two aspects of the match engine, the graphical side and the coding/algorithms behind it. Sadly the graphical side is quite a bit behind matching what the game is doing underneath. They added a couple hundred more animations this year and it still isn't too impressive.

Stumbled my way to promotion on and won the title on the last day of the season. Given a £4m budget. Gotten some decent players in though. Ochoa, Britton, Chico ;D First game Man City away and I got a 1-1 draw, then lost 2-0 at home to Liverpool despite playing well, then won 2-0 away at Villa who were top of the league. Fucking mental game.

I like that your board request your to play a certain way but christ is it annoying.
I'm playing counter attacking again, usually with the last 15-30 minutes on overload. My board are disappointed that we're not playing attacking possession football. Which is fine when I was in the championship, but now I'm in the premier league with a sub standard squad and I just can't do it.
Not to mention that I just beat Southampton 4-0 and West Ham 3-1 (away). Fucking inbred, donkey fucking wankers.

Palacios is practically finished as a footballer in this patch, so I would suggest trying to offload him ASAP.
N'zonzi has had a bit of a boost, as has Cameron, Begovic, Shawcross & Huth.
I'm fancying a 4-5-1 with the defence you would expect with a midfield of:
Shea - Ness - N'zonzi - Cameron - Pennant
For the first season, and then probably Crouch up front as the ME still has the flaw that means big targetmen score a lot of goals. Looks like I put in the wrong value for Begovic's wages though, I'm sure he's on more than 18k a week. Ah well, can always fix it in the summer.
Edit: In fact, big Mama could be a good call up front.

I've really struggled to get into this years FM. Don't know why but it doesn't have that addictiveness factor like the past ones had. Or maybe I just played FM12 so much that I'm sick of playing it.

I'm the same, played this one less than any since I started in 01/02. Started a new Stoke save with the update last night, hopefully this one keeps my interest.

Don't you love it when youngsters from Football Manager start getting acknowledged in real life and you think "I discovered him years ago!" Arsenal are being linked with Yaya Sanogo in the Guardian today: www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/mar/08/football-transfer-rumours-rooney-barcelonaWith Niang doing well at AC Milan all I need now is for Carlos Fierro to get a big move and my FM2012 strike force will be coming to fruition. So proud!

Yeah but how's Aaritalo doing?
Could play wing or up front, would either score you 40 goals a season or set up 40 goals a season.

Big bad Mika, what an absolute legend! I presume he's still at that random Finnish side. Apparently he was at the Villa for a couple of years but the couple of mates that I've got that support the Villa have absolutely no memory of him whatsoever. I think he's like their Ole T. Albrigtsen.

I'm the same with this FM. Not played it anywhere near as much as previous ones.
Will have a go with the new update though and see how it goes.

I'm going to try a game where the Director of Football signs the players for me.
I'll probably abandon that when he brings in some utter crap, but oh well ;D

Mika is still at TPS, his record for them since 2005 is 106 games played, 23 goals. Something tells me it was a glitch I did sign Lehtovaara, Riku Riski & Hamalainen from them regularly too. Leht - Still at TPS Riski - Plays in Norway Hama - Not long ago signed for Lech Poznan Not that anyone cares, but fuck it.

It's amazing how many players you keep an eye on throughout their careers because of Football Manager/Champ Manager. I've always followed Kennedy Bakircioglu after he was pretty much the best right winger on the game back in the day and after spells at Ajax and Racing Santander, this season he went back to Hammarby where the magic all began.

Get a decent DoF and they can pull in some fantastic players on cracking deals. My director of football signed me a player on an earlier save for £8m on a £12.5k, 4 year deal. No idea how as the player wasn't transfer listed, I'd had him shortlisted but last time I enquired Napoli wanted £25m so I left it.

Proof I nailed the research, sadly though, it doesn't yet allow researchers to put options in such as what % of fans on an influential fansite want me out. Also, 3 of these last 5 games without a win were Man City, Chelsea & Arsenal - and I drew two of those.
