As a single, all-conquering entity, Ricardo Fuller and Mamady Sidibe are hard to beat. During the Championship years (and the first Prem season too) they were awesome. Fuller always got a lot of credit for being a real tidy, aggressive footballer who's also a pretty good athlete, but the reason he found it so easy to dominate defenders was due to Mama using his entire 6'5" frame to batter defenders and win the flick ons all game, no-matter how many times he got kicked, pulled and elbowed. Probably the most physical and intimidating Stoke City strikeforce of all time; the jewels in TP's crown (cap) and proof that having two massive blokes up front is always better than having just one. I'd say Gifton and Ade were at least as intimidating IMHO Apart from Gifton having arthritic ankles, maybe. Neither Gifton or Ade were as aggressive as Ric is/was either.

I beg to differ, Ade was more aggressive than Ric, he may not have been as skillfull, but he was very very agrressive, Rics built like a middleweight boxer, Ade was built like cruiserwight boxer

Ade was a massive bastard, slightly bigger than Ric I agree
However, Ric's got more of a reputation at being aggressive and fiery through his personality and small incidents such as smacking Griff in the chops. That gets into a defenders head more, thus making him more intimidating

Both of them like(d) to fight defenders for the ball, only Riccy fought defenders off the ball.

Also, Ric would knock any Stoke player from any era the fuck out.

Also, Ric would knock any Stoke player from any era the fuck out. Apart from Smithy and Faye And maybe Keith Scott Ric would batter Abdoulaye. Whelan picked a scrap with him so he can't be that 'ard. Denis Smith would be a tougher match, but I still think Ric would have the edge. Smith always comes across as a hard player, not a hard man, Riccy does more fighting.

How about an Apollo Creed vs Ivan Drago type fight between Ric and Shtaniuk? I'm pretty sure Shtanners would batter Ric, he absolutely destroyed Iwan "dirty bastard" Roberts in the home game against Norwich in the 02/03 season

Sergei would soak up the punches, but his Easter Bloc diet of cabbage soup and turnips means he'll never have the stamina to be a true champ.

Can we decamp the whole "Ric versus " to its own thread, its worthy of it IMHO
In one camp we have Dharma BUm saying Ric could batter any Stoke player past of present, and we put forward suggestions, and when we have exhausted Stoke players we move onto any football player ever

This topic seems to have generated a bit of interest.
So I'm going to spend a bit of time un-merging a thread!
Bare with me.

I see the thousands of pounds we collectively spent on counselling for your merging addiction has been for nothing. You're going backwards

Ric could batter Gerry. He's a big bloke with a reputation for being a nutter, but Riccy would run circles around him and tire him out, before laying into him.

But Rics knees would give way when Gerry lept on his back (are we going boxing or wrestling, I think the contender should choose) and then he'd just throttle him like he did with Dennis Wise

I think Huth would knock Ric out, he's a lot more fragile than he used to be and Huth has got that weight advantage (he's over a stone heavier according to the official site, same height mind).
I think Johnny Walters/Fuller would be a good scrap.
