Like test-ride today, only 3 miles (in jeans,) to see how it feels.... It's fucking lovely! A flying machine, brakes are lethally sharp and the forks feel great; can't get used to the sram shifters and I still need those little numbers to tell me what gear I'm in

Salop, it's not dropping from big to middle cog on front derailleur as I'd like (sram x9).
Which screw should I try and in which direction?

How safe or dangerous is it going for a lone night ride across the canal?
I've got a decent torch I can strap on (and a machete if needs be).

It's not you I'd be worried about. If you get caught on a canal towpath with a torch and a machete you'll be fitted up for at least a dozen sex crimes. You're practically carrying a rape kit and riding a getaway vehicle.

Tip: Don't mention strap ons in a post with Campers about. The only danger you have is meeting a fellow cyclist coming in the opposite direction....you've both likely to be blinded and fall into the cut.

31 miles today out to Stone, about 10 miles from home I completely hit the wall, thankfully it was a metaphorical wall. I'm absolutely bollocksed.

Steady 13 miles round the canals yesterday, enjoyable but chest hurts today. Think I got a bit of a cold.

Out a couple of times in the week of late, bout a 15 mile loop then did a 32 miler yesterday to stone & back (Some lovely fillies out & about on the canals).
Saw some poor bastard old bloke in the canal by Etruria fishing his life's belongings out of the burned out she'll of his small house boat, some arsehole kids had torched it and left him with absolutely noting, to add insult to injury he's hot to pay £700 for the canal trust to remove his burned out hull. Rarely have I felt so much pitty for anyone. Entire life up in smoke and no insurance... If I win the lotto I'm gonna buy him a yatch.

Over a 1000 miles this year inc 100+ this week.
On a road bike though. Easier on the joints than running
