It really was a terrible night for the sport. Mourinho looked embarrassed to be seen there. And why not, it was the Conference North of boxing nights. The only half decent fight was between those two blokes from Essex fighting for the English title who were clearly good mates but neither had a punch that could do any damage whatsoever, so they just flailed away at each other for ten rounds. That night club owner fight was laughable. The fat Bulgarian with moobs was so obviously 'bought' in just to fall over, and Haye's opponent wasn't much different. Even Barry McGuigan sounded embarrassed to have to justify the contest, admitting at one point that the crowd thought Gjergjaj had dived and wanted to see it again for himself cos he wasn't convinced he hadn't either. Pathetic. |

An outstanding fight between Tommy Coyle and Tyrone Nurse last night which nurse won on points.
Luke Campbell got it on a points decision but looked shit.
Dillian Whyte was utter fucking want against a bum. Deservedly won on points but he was dreadful.
Josh Warrington was a class above and stopped the lad in the 9th.
And Carl Frampton became 2-weight world champion. Only seen a couple of clips but he looked the better fighter and got it by majority decision.

Luis Ortiz beat Malik Scott in one of the worse fights in boxing history. Scott, who has a bantam weight KO record at heavyweight level, just ran the whole fight. Ortiz closed the ring off well but barely landed anything clear. He wouldn't throw more than 1 punch at it was pretty easy for Scott to avoid the big loaded hits.
Jamie McDonald won on points when he shouldn't have.
Stephen Smith lost again as challenger for the title. He fought well and bravely but the other lad was a very good fighter.
