I only heard one or two people say Groves had a chance, the vast majority predicted an easy Froch win. He's a veteran of 11 World Title fights, he's beaten some of the best in the world.
Groves had only had 19 fights and fought nobody at world level. Add to that he had a gameplan of trying to wind Froch up and acting like a bit of a twat, virtually all pundits didn't give him a chance.
If you predicted Groves would do what he did, then fair play, that is a brilliant call, but it shocked most of the boxing world!

Going back to the fight, the ref could so easily have just given him a standing eight. I think he was dazed at the time and did turn his back a bit, but he didn't go down, he didn't go down as the ref was waving it off, he had a clear enough mind to be protesting about the decision immediately, so surely just give him a count. Look into his eyes, see if he is ok and then make the decision.
Have to say the punch that knocked Froch down in the first was brilliant as well, nailed him!

Terrible stoppage, didn't even need a standing 8, although Groves would have preferred it than being stopped obviously.
Still, I had a little bet on rounds 7-9 though so i'm chuffed ;D

I've watched it finally now and I'm not sure it was such a bad stoppage. He'd taken half a dozen good shots, albeit not in a sustained undefended way and was probably about to get battered. A bit early yes, but only by 10-20 seconds. I think the ref saw the left hook Froch connected with about a second before he stopped it and thought he was out on his feet and about to get hurt?

Perhaps you need your mum to give you a cuddle-as you are getting as precious as the blokes on The Moancake? I thought the whole idea of here was you write what you like?? Without fear of criticism? But no-if you write what the Moderator doesn't like then you face the consequences. Go on ban me-and become what you most didn't want to become. You ran away from AVTAK-when people didn't agree with you,and now you are driving people away from here. I suppose your loyal sycophants will back you up as they always do-but when Donkey/PM et al can't even be bothered to post on here I think it is the end. You invited us here because we were different and didn't abide by the rules. Enjoy your time with Mr S and his femine leaning vitriol! Fucking hell, and I'm the precious one! I'll break this down into manageable chunks for you to attempt to process: "Perhaps you need your mum to give you a cuddle-as you are getting as precious as the blokes on The Moancake?"Weird how you feel the need to bring cuddling Mothers into this, were you deprived as a child? You're certainly across as being deprived as an "adult". What's also hilarious is how you call me "precious" yet write this sack of hangbag flouncing piss. "I thought the whole idea of here was you write what you like?? Without fear of criticism? But no-if you write what the Moderator doesn't like then you face the consequences. Go on ban me-and become what you most didn't want to become."You honestly thought you could simply waltz onto here, say absolutely anything and not be called out for it? No words.. my head is literally melting at attempting to even compute how the hell you came to that conclusion. Who else has "faced the consequences" after not agreeing with me? Nobody. One person has been banned and he was a massive racist, posting utter racist bile so that's overexaggerated bollocks again. And what don't I want to become? An Admin who runs a site where WUM's spam a forum making some woeful attempts at purposely getting a reaction from fellow posters isn't tolerated? What a monster I've become.. no saving me is there? "You ran away from AVTAK-when people didn't agree with you,and now you are driving people away from here."A View To A Kiln? I had no part in that, that was before my time. You're probably referring to AVFTB. Now, me running away from that is a lie so again, you're just doing your pathetic WUM routine which is no longer tolerated because it's just tiresome. That died a death because we simply didn't have enough posters, we must've had about four at the most, not because "people didn't agree with me", that's a downright lie. On here, we've got around 40 people making occasional posts. It doesn't take a genius to tell you why this place is surviving for far longer than that place did. Also, have you ever considered that your WUM routine, personally and needlessly attacking people with some of the most dogshit "banter" I've ever witnessed, is what's apparently "driving people away from here"? Probably not, but then again I wouldn't expect you to be the sort of person to take responsibility for anything, you'd rather be the one that wants everyone else to do something, you've done it on here when you've moaned about certain members not posting. "I suppose your loyal sycophants will back you up as they always do-but when Donkey/PM et al can't even be bothered to post on here I think it is the end."I find it flattering, and hilarious, that you honestly think that I've got this loyal army who've pledged allegiance to me and this board. It's also the most childish thing I've ever read from a "man" I've ever read. It's the internet, this is how it works. If you're a WUM, you'll get no support. It's that simple. And how exactly is people being busy with their lives and not prioritising an internet messageboard over work/Uni/family "the end"? It isn't, the board's ticking along as it always has done and it's been acknowledged this week. An old poster has even returned this week in Rhodesy. But I wouldn't expect you to be able to read anything that doesn't suit this weird shower of drivel, probably a bit beyond you. "You invited us here because we were different and didn't abide by the rules."This isn't The Avengers Assemble, fucking hell.. ;D "Enjoy your time with Mr S and his femine leaning vitriol!"But according to you, he'll be banned because I don't agree with what he posts.. didn't think that one through did you? No one would expect you to think though, too taxing for you. And that's it really. No doubt you'll re-register under another guise for the 48th time and think it's perfectly acceptable and mature to purposely WUM before whinging about myself and Donkey not transforming this board into an absolute machine and stalking Mr Sausage and Uncs needlessly across the board. I'd ask you to close the door on your way out but I've done it myself. Bit like taking the bins out. Tra duck.

Let's get it on! www1.skysports.com/boxing/news/12183/9131382/boxing-george-groves-slams-contract-offer-for-carl-froch-rematchIBF rule Carl Froch must defend against George Groves The IBF have ordered their super-middleweight champion Carl Froch to face George Groves in a rematch in the next 90 days - or face being stripped of his belt. The pair were involved in a classic world title fight in November which ultimately culminated in Froch retaining his IBF belt via a controversial ninth-round stoppage. Londoner Groves, 25, launched an appeal against the decision taken by referee Howard Foster Jr and said on Twitter: "Oh Dear! IBF order IMMEDIATE rematch with me and @carl_Froch ... Maybe I was right after all turning down that 'amazing' 7 figure offer haha. Matchroom Sport supremo Eddie Hearn, who promoted the first fight between the pair, appeared to support Groves' assertion while maintaining that the ruling would have little impact on Froch's options. Hearn added via social media: "More updates.. IBF call for rematch for Froch v Groves..doesn't change much re CF's options but still hopeful of agreeing terms with GG." He then told Sky Sports later on Friday: "We still have two options. There are twists and turns every hour in this story and the fight just keeps growing and growing. "We made a big offer yesterday which was rejected. Hopefully we can speak to him continuously over the weekend and try and get the fight made. I'm very aware of how big the fight is and the demand for it from the British public." Froch: I’ll fight George again Froch, 36, has remained relatively quiet on his next move until now with Andre Ward, Gennady Golovkin, Sergey Kovalev all mentioned as potential opponents - but former WBC middleweight king Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has now emerged as the most likely candidate. The Nottingham fighter said in a statement released on Friday: "There has been plenty of speculation over the last few weeks regarding my future. As it stands we are looking closely at two options George Groves and Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr. Seven figure offer "Yesterday, we made a seven figure offer to George Groves for a second fight that would have seen him earn around double that of the first. Disappointingly, George rejected this offer so we are continuing our talks with Top Rank and HBO regarding Chavez Jnr. "I understand the demand for the Groves fight in the UK, but also the demand in the US for the Chavez fight. Talks are ongoing and no doubt some further news will break soon. I'm happy to fight anyone, as I have done throughout my entire career." Groves appeals to the IBF Groves, however, returned fire in the war of words, responding with a statement that read: "I am unsure why Carl Froch has today (24/01/14) released a statement implying I do not wish to take the fight, as I was under the impression we are still in negotiations. "I am currently awaiting an improved offer from his promoter, as well as speaking to other promoters interested in promoting this fight. "If I didn't want to fight Carl Froch then I wouldn't have invested so much time and money into appealing with the IBF over the dubious outcome of the first fight," added Groves. "And I await the outcome of that hearing in the very near future." ""Oh Dear! IBF order IMMEDIATE rematch with me and @carl_Froch ... Maybe I was right after all turning down that 'amazing' 7 figure offer haha" George Groves on Twitter "Now everyone understands @carl_Froch press release today.. Wants to move on? Hold on honey IBF says #NoNoNo #RematchOrVacate haha."

OK I admit I don't know a lot about the technical ins and outs of boxing but AJ tonight, wtf? I realise you have to fight your dues and go through the blubber and bruisers before you get your chance but seriously, what was the point? He was obviously going to knock him out in the first round after 30 seconds.... Is it just that he is that goddam good that no-one is in his league? Obvs I'm happy he's won again but I'd rather see a bit more of a challenge and a bit more of Joshua just to judge if he is really any good (well and just a bit more of Joshua...)

Yeah, he's up to 8 rounds next bout, so hopefully up to 12 by the end of 2014. I think there is only Fury of the BHW's who would trouble Joshua. The bloke who AJ just beat took Chisora to 9 rounds in 2013! And Chisora is the 2nd rated BHW. AJ - Fury will be box office in a year or two if Fury is still about (funny character) Audley Harrison is still 6th rated British Heavyweight...ffs
