I used to love getting up early in the week before the kids so that i could have a quick bash on micro machines, then all of a sudden , everything seemed to be touchscreens and technical. the kids dont know what theyre missing out on.

It's possible you've spent a long time in a coma if the change from MegaDrive to everything being touch screen seemed sudden ;D

Loved the Mega drive. Can download an emulator for your PC and all the games for the mega drive really easily. Same with snes,nes,amiga,neo-go etc. Great to re-visit and still holds its own.

About 4 generations happened since the Megadrive ;D. I was more of a Nintendo kid but my cousin and best mate had the sega consoles. I intend to introduce my kid to gaming gradually, but probably from the Snes / Megadrive era as most of the games from the 8 bit days are borderline unplayable now. As Enrico said, you can get emulators. I've got one of these bad motherfuckers: Eliminates the ballache of touchscreen controls. I've got NES, Mastersysem, Snes, Megagrive, Gameboy/ Advanced, N64 and Playstation (I'm yet to get that working though) and literally hundreds of games on my phone, so god bless technology I say. I was also clearing out my stuff in my Parents' attic the other weekend and stumbled upon Star Wars Rogue Squadron for the N64 that I thought I'd sold years ago. It's the only game that I've found so far that doesn't work on an emulator, so I've set that up in my bedroom at home. ALthough the colours are faded and it looks a bit washed out on an LED screen, it's still good to play on the console. I can understand why there's so many people on Youtube that play on the dedicated console rather than stream from an emulator. Them nostalgia feels are pretty good. They're few and far between but there's a few Youtubers that are actually watchable and informative, and aren't aimed at excitable 13 year olds that sit down and commentate whilst they play games from old systems. It's not a bad way to kill 10 minutes on the throne.

If I had all the shit that kids have these days I'd have never made the jump from boy to man.
Thank fuck the most portable thing I had was a gamegear which weighed more than me and used about 8 batteries a day ;D

I had nuthin as I was too poor. The one and only console I ever owned was a PS2 which I still use. My lad, who is 9, has broken 5 Nintendos, has a 3ds and a 3ds XL, as well as his Wii, and plays on my PS2 and plays an N64 emulator on his laptop. He did have one of them Sony PSvita handheld things, but threw it through my Bravia flatscreen having a tantrum and broke both of them.

Loved the megadrive-still got an Atari ST- too many graphics on games these days. Also kids are a lot fatter, McDonalds milk shakes are smaller and tramps don't drink Special Brew and smell of wee as much as they used to. Whatever happened to Texan and Nutty bars as well? Banned by the PC brigade no doubt and those people in Belgium. You can't say the word 'dark' or 'penguin' these days without being called a racist or accused of being a paedo.

I had a Megadrive-loved it through thick and thin.
I'm sorry but there hasn't been a console since that comes near!

I used to have a Cray mainframe that was so big I had to buy the house next door to put it in, it played this ace game called Pong where a square went around a screen between 2 lines. Awesome. Then I expanded the system by buying another identical one, and this combined system quickly expanded from Pong into organised crime leading to the murder of Jack "The Hat" McVitie. I think this is a salutary story.
