League
Begovic Wilkinson - Shawcross - Huth - Ridgewell Pennant - ReoCoker - Whelan - Etherington Jones - Bellamy
Cup/Europe
Sorensen Shotton - Mills - Ridgewell - Wilson Snodgrass - Whitehead - Delap - Marshall Walters - Jerome/Rodallega
Out: Tonge Soares Davies Collins - doubtful Lund - loan Cuvelier - loan In: Ridgewell - £3m Mills - £2m Reo-Coker - FREE Bellamy - £2m Snodgrass - £2/3m Jerome/Rodallega - £3m-£10m I think TP will go for the bargain of Reo-Coker, great engine, would slot in well. Jerome/Rodallega have been long term targets and I just feel he has a hard on for Bellamy. Would be great wing cover too. Mills to replace Faye and Ridgewell to replace Higgy while he's out, and hopefully Collins. Tried to be realistic. Thoughts?

I really don't rate Reo-Coker, with Pulis there is no way of knowing who will be bought and sold so I'm just going for the team I want rather than what it probably will be. Begovic Shotton - Huth - Shawcross - Ridgewell Pennant - Palacios - Whelan - Etherington Jones - Walters So in the starting XI that would only mean two signings, Ridgewell and Palacios. Ridgewell we have been heavily linked with and is a likely signing who would be perfect for us. Palacios is probably a bit out of stretch, he's been at Spurs where he will probably have been on decent wages, he won't be prepared to take a massive pay cut when he could go to Italy to play in the Champions League with Napoli on better wages. I really want to see Shotton given more game time, whenever I've seen him he looks good on the ball and a solid defender. He's also young and black which automatically makes him a better player. I love Wilko and it would be fine to have him back in the team of Shotton doesn't work out but he would love to play in Europe against some puffy foreigners.

Begovic Wilkinson - Shawcross - Huth - Ridgewell Pennant - Delap - Whelan - Etherington Jones - Walters Would anyone be upset if we lined up like that next season? I wouldn't be, just disappointed that we wouldn't have upgraded at full back and centre midfield However, a side where players like Ridgewell, Jerome, N'Zogbia, Snodgrass, El-Arabi and Collison are in competition with the side that we finished the season with, we'd have an excellent side that would be able to compete in all cups and the league Whatever side we line up with next season, I can bet my bottom dollar that we'll be midtable again. Next season will be our biggest test so far, whether we can compete on both the domestic and continent

Proper cover for wings on the bench. (Marshall/Obinna/Bellamy/Snodgrass/NZog) Replacement for Faye. (Johnson/Cetin/Mills). I've said before, our first 11 is fine, it's the squad we need to deal with. Swap Diao for Vaughan. Swap Davies for Mills. Swap Tonge for Snodgrass etc etc.

I can see us finishing 14th/15th next season if[/b] we get to the group stages of the Europa League.
And I would be bloody delighted with that given all the extra games. No Stoke fan is a clever person or a proper supporter if they moan about finishing below where we finished last season if[/b] we get properly into Europe.

Do people actually think that TP will bring Marshall up to the first team to compete for wingers spots?

I really hope Cuvelier turns out to be good enough. Hopefully his Belgian U-19's call up means he is.
Like to see him at least make the bench next season (if he's good enough) rather than what will probably happen, he'll go on loan to some lower league club who will say he's crap and we'll never hear of him again.

As much as I bum up to Flo on the OC, I am exaggerating.
Being fully realistic, he'll go the same was as Shotton. Next season a loan to a league club, slowly moving up and then a few cup games with Stoke etc until he's ready.
However if Flo feels Pulis isn't gonna use him, or he's not in the plans for the first team in the future, he'll move to another Prem club.
He is better than Shotton, and would be wanted by a lot of Prem clubs, but it's just Pulis and his mysterious hatred of youth, so I don't think he'll make it first team soon.
On Marshall, I know fuck all apart from a few games I saw him play for Carlisle. Bit like James Milner in that he can play on both wings, good with both feet, cuts in from the left, whips them from the right. Ace cover. Again though, it's whether Pulis will try/test him or not.

Better than Shotton in what way?
They're two completely different players.

Potential wise.
I reckon TP will bring Flo through like Shotton, loan to league2, then 1, then Championship, then a few bench/cup games.
However Flo has better potential than Shotton aged 18, so if TP does loan him out 3/4 times to league clubs, Flo will leave, to another Prem club. TP needs to trust Flo, Shotton, Marshall, maybe Lund more.

Which is another brilliant reason for European football. The extra games (provided we get into the group stage) should mean they get more chances.

Heard really good things about Marshall, but what about Lund? Why hasn't he been out on loan? He must have something about him to get his international call-up, but he's been much more anonymous than Marshall since they both signed.

From the few times I've watched Cuvelier he looks like a class above anything else we've had in the academy for a long time. He's a CM who actually runs at opponents and adds a bit more energy and movement to the middle of the park.
Very much NOT your typical Pulis CM from what I've seen.
