Barton, who repeatedly claims he is the best midfielder in the country, was capped once by England in 2007 but Capello has said that because of his poor disciplinary record, he will not be in an England squad again while he is in charge. “I think Joey Barton is a good player but he is a dangerous player because sometimes on the pitch you can play 10 v 11 because he might get sent off," Capello told the Daily Mirror. “That is the problem you face with him.” Capello also stated that Barton’s current contract problems also played a part in his non-selection, adding: “When a player is fighting with his club it is normal to stay outside. The relationship between club and player is important.” Capello was also keen to defend one of Barton’s rivals for a starting berth in the centre of England’s midfield, Frank Lampard, and he rebuffed suggestions that the Chelsea man’s England career is over. “He is a very important player," he said. "He is really good. I substituted him against Switzerland because we were losing and a manager needs to find a solution.” The Italian also admitted that it may be a problem for West Ham’s Scott Parker if he stays in the Championship with the Upton Park club but was keen to point out that he will still be selected, saying: “It is important for him to play in the Premier League. “I know he is really serious. He is a focused guy. It is no problem but they play more games than the Premier League. If I find a really good player in the Championship I will pick him. Why not? “It is no problem but I hope for him and for me he will play in the Premier League.” England welcome the Netherlands to Wembley on Wednesday August 10, then face Bulgaria and Wales in two crucial Euro 2012 qualifiers in September www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2011/08/07/2608691/fabio-capello-joey-barton-is-a-dangerous-player-and-will-not

I can see Capello's concerns in the light of Barton's off the field antics in the past, but has Barton got anymore red or yellow cards in the past year than any other combative midfielder? I was actually rather impressed by the way he kept his cool last season in some games - especially when subjected to some horror tackles from Karl Henry at Wolves.

I can't wait for Capello to go, it's been a waste of time under him after the first qualifying time.

No explanation as to why Shawcross, Pennant and Etherington have all been ignored again, then?
The sooner he goes the fucking better. Only he knows why Phil Jones gets called up ahead of Shawcross and Cahill, only he knows why Henderson gets called up ahead of Rodwell, and only he knows why Welbeck is in ahead of a far superior Sturridge.

Yes, Capello has a great point. He won't pick pure scum like Barton who has a bad record off the pitch (that's what it's about really, his record on the pitch is no better or worse than anyone else). He only chooses players who shag their team mates' wives, assault DJs in night clubs, fail to turn up for drugs tests and those who assault women and taxi drivers. Barton is good enough for Engalnd and should be picked. Piss off Capello you hypocritical cunt.

Capello is a hypocrite twat, I lost all respect when he went back on everything he said about picking in form players.
Shawcross, Etherington and Pennant saw some fantastic form last season and it's a disgrace that there wasn't even one cap between them.

I never thought I`d say this but since we got in the prem I really couldnt care less about England anymore. When an England team starts showing a bit more passion and pride I might start taking an interest again. Until then I`ll continue to show my support for a team that does show some passion, some desire and a willingness to fight whatever the odds. Im proud to be a Potter
