I have to say the social that went on in Split was really good. Way better than your usual away game. Everyone stopping for a bit of banter and a cracking atmosphere which I can seriously recommend to anyone thinking of going to one of the games if we get past our night out on the Thun ;D I spoke too loads of people I recognise by sight from away games that normally you'd just say the polite hello to. This was heightened in the two and a half hours after the game before I was taken away in the back of a police van. Even that had it's eventual moment with three Croat policemen serenading 7 Stokies to a tune on the radio, They even pointed out the sights, the old Hadjuk ground ;D I had several meets with the boys from the Sentivale who were very nice I have to say. These intrepid reporters from Stoke On Trent were also very grateful when I took them out of the wrong queue for check-in and later removed them from the Stansted departure queue and moved them to the Gatwick queue. At this point I was worried that they'd ever get to Thun The highpoint was of course getting to meet young Carlosdickabout at the fanzone. As handsome and charming a Stokie as you could wish to meet, someone his dad can be proud of The clown in the gown photo only serves to show off his sense of humour. By the look of him on Thursday his next photo should be put directly onto the Women's Health thread I met some seriously nice people

Going to Croatia to watch Stoke was better than both trips to Wembley multiplied by every time we've beaten Arsenal in the last few years...and then some!! Stayed in the small, but really cool town of Zadar on the wednesday night. Took the bus along the coast to Split on the morning of the game. Freshened up when we got to the apartment, then genius me decides to wear my Stoke training top through the town centre on route to find the fanzone (in my defence, i didn't read the "don't wear colours through the town" statement :/ ) bumped into some lovely young Torcida's just past the cathedral that decided to follow me and my mate whilst shouting "Fucking English scum!...Fuck the Queen!...You want me to, how you say, fuck your pussy??" (I was proper shitting myself at the time though haha). Managed to lose them, only for this other psycho to leave his market stall to follow us until we got to the harbour. Friendly Police gave us a lift in their car to the fanzone. The fanzone was pretty crappy, but useful and safe. The highpoint was meeting the graciously ageing Jamlander, and realising i'm not the most middle-class stoke fan after all ;D he's a fine gentleman, and he's got a sound lad as well (as much as he likes to think otherwise). The organisation of the buses from the fanzone to the ground were the only bad part of my trip. They were boarding on inhumane. Literally surprised no one passed out!! (The buses back weren't much fun either). Once in the ground, I reckon I felt like I must have felt like during my first ever Stoke game as a 4 year old. (My Mum always used to tease me as I got older, because when I got back from said game, I was telling her about everything BUT the game itself!) The torcida are absolutely incredible to see in action, and even the fans in the two other stands got involved throughout the game as well. I spent more time watching them than I did watching the game (apparently Johnny Woodgate is a great signing though ) We befriended one Torcida member on the Friday, and he took us all around town. Really interesting guy, telling us everything about the Torcida, the club, the town, the country, the war. Everything. Couldn't have asked for a nicer person to bump into. Hell, he even bought me a t-shirt from the Hadjuk club shop!! The weather was great. The food (when it FINALLY arrives at your table) was great. The girls...my God!! hahah We'll struggle to EVER get a better away day than Hajduk Split. Road trip to Thun, here I come!! (Sorry girls, no Women's Health thread worthy pictures like the Jam-man promised)
