Typical Gooradian fare but the sentence in the article that made my blood run cold was .."Police say one reason for the increase was the introduction of a duty on those working in public services such as health and education to report concerns".

What is happening in the UK, every time I go back there there are more CCTV cameras, and now our doctors and teachers are obliged to snitch to the authorities.

For those of us that grew up on cold war spy thrillers, and the pervasive "fear of the informer" that seemed to run through the narrative of every one, to see the UK heading the same way fills me with a sense of dread.
