Dominic Telford has left Stoke to join Bury on a permanent deal. Always thought he was a decent prospect, and too good for Bury. A waste of time in terms of his SCFC career. Another pointless academy player who was bought in at 17/18, never came near the first team and moved on for £0 to a tinpot, lower league club. |

Looking at the Championship I actually think there is a real lack of quality to sign from other clubs. Not a striker in the league I would be excited if we signed, been the poorest standard for a long time for me. When you see someone like Waghorn amongst last season's top scorers it speaks volumes. Is OK having money to spend but glad we're not spending it for the sake of it like Villa did.

I still think we're a bit off a complete squad but as Mr Carrot says, no one looks to have done a great deal of business or look to have a well-rounds squad.
I'd still like a CB
A defensive midfielder
Another winger, ideally with pace
Another forward (being greedy)
I think we'll make another 2 or 3 big signings before the window closes.
We need to ship some of the dross out (Loan for Sweeney, Campbell, etc and Adam, Fletcher, Afellay, Diouf etc need moving on/out).
I think Leeds, Forest, potentially Villa and potentially Derby will be right amongst it with us and West Brom.

Rumours Traore is off to Wolves though. |

If anyone watched the Boro semi final- a goal down and they defended until the last 2 or 3 minutes of the second leg. Was hard to believe what was watching. Villa were there for the taking. The top scorers in the Championship are all pretty average strikers, depends a lot on Crouch ( who always is a handful) and a couple of others hitting double figures plus. Afobe and Ince look well capable, really was hoping Diouf would leave and maybe one more in but we still need a CB which we seem to be working on as both our CBs are injury prone.

Under Lambert we conceded just over a goal a game, problem is is no way Shawcross and BMI will stay fit for such a long season. Cameron can play there but we need someone else in as well. I would take James Collins on a short term contract |

Another few days and clubs up and down the country will stop pissing about and start signing players which then makes other players available. Who knows there maybe clubs that are desperate enough to sign some of our dead wood.
Looks like we need a central defender or two for cover and a defensive midfielder as Affelay is injured, Fletcher is no longer good enough and Charlie Adam is a right Charlie, totally unreliable and slow. Another forward would be great because Diouf would still miss the target if the goals were twice as wide. Berahinio and Chopper might be fantastic in the Championship but then again they might be wank.

I think we should have a Keith Scott Award - for the best deal involving us shifting some deadwood. Sadly, I can't remember a good example since then. Usually we end up buying some shit African for £15m then selling him on twenty minutes later for £37.50 and a pack of jaffa cakes.
