Pulis' tactics are fucking perfect for Europe. Not many teams will be able to break us down away from home when we set out for a clean sheet and I fancy us against anybody at home. I can't see us not getting through the group stage.

Thought Upson played pretty well tonight as well, apart from getting winded by the ball.

I can't see us not getting through the group stage. Got to agree with that. Most of the teams o the continent won't have played against a team that can defend like that. It may not be pretty to watch at times, and I'm sure we'll get slated something rotten by the press for it; but which is better - a 0-1 or a 0-0 away from home and beat them at home, or go offensive and lose 3-0 away and then have to try and score 4 at home? I know which I would prefer. Pulis is a very good and very intelligent manager, and he would've spoken to his mates SAF and Rafael Benitez about playing in Europe. I'd be inclined to say that we'll get further than Man Citeh did last season.

Truth is, like it or lump it, Pulis will always put defence before attack. As frustrating as it can be, it gives us the best chance of getting points. It's not the prettiest of tactics but it's definitely effective when you're as organised as Stoke. We only conceded more than two goals on, what, two occasions last season?
This year, with an even stronger defence, we look fucking mean.
