Thought Teresa May was the worst primeminister ever but then we had Boris Johnson who spent most of his time in office on holiday or getting pissed at work. Now we have Thick Lizzy. Hmm, well, obviously disappointing that many of our European neighbours, the Finns in particular, have seized upon the need for good looking politicians, even that nice lady from New Zealand is quite attractive. Now, as a gentleman of an age, I don;t think Liz Truss is unattractive by the standards of our senior politicians. It would be nice if the Tories in particular, acted with some bloody proprietary dignity and acted in the common interest instead of their own self interest.

Now, here in Ireland-Land, the 2 "opposition" parties actually formed a coalition to keep Sinn Fein out of government. The office of Taoiseach was originally held by Le Varadkar from Fine Gael and more latterly Micheal Martin, but then when he's had his go, Leo gets another go. Its a bit mad really, but ti shows how close the 2 parties are in terms of political ethos, their main differences appears to be their stance on the formation of the Free State. In 1922. So looking forward then. Driven by this rather parochial politic, there are a plethora of independent parties, and TD's, who can obviously tilt the balance of power. Politicians in Ireland are notoriously locally biased so its possible to get elected to the Dáil on the basis of a single local issue, for example the "Many a Pound a Ton" Party for example, who could get an MP elected to Parliament on the basis of Sainsbury's removing a roundabout in Leek, and yes, I still have the song, and yes, I still listen to it.
