The enclosure is probably more to protect them from the local neds, less so to protect the Trent from the beavers.

There has been a great project down here in cornwall where they've introduced beavers into a valley to improve biodiversity and manage flood risk and it's been really successful. It involved local land owners signing up to losing some of their land to flooding to see wider benefits. Hopefully there won't be any twats turning up from afar to come and shoot them for no other reason than it's something they want to do.
