If there was anyone wondering if the club’s youngest ever starting XI in mid-week at Middlesbrough (average age 21.4) was reserved for the Carabao Cup, it was followed by the youngest ever side (22.7) for a league game when they took on Plymouth. Two 17-year-olds came off the bench too.
