True ...he's gone 😳
Firstly, the performance v Oxford was abject, we surrendered , put up no fight at all and everyone involved deserved sacking ( except the goalie who prevented the 4 nil , 5 nil thumping we deserved.
But it was one game and we will never know now if schuey and the players would have come out fighting v Fleetwood and hull .
Alex Ferguson said when he went into man utd he told the players, it's time to stop talking about winning and start winning. Basically anyone who wants to talk about winning can fxck off , I need winners . Took him long time to get that though!
Stoke's players have been doing far too much talking about winning and not enough winning for far too long.
If you wanted an example of a total lack of winning mentality then Oxford was it .
But a big call from John Walters, one that will make him or break him.
Hope for stoke he has called this right.

Bit of a shock that we would sack the manager so soon into the season. I guess a change now means the season isn't a right off. Plenty of time to get a new manager in and hopefully start winning games.
Just hope we don't end up with the current Plymouth manager or some other big name ex-player like Lampard.

On Facebook, everyone seems a bit mystified and speculates there was some sort of bust up after the Oxford game, something just doesnt add up to me.

I can’t believe that we’d fire him not having another manager lined up that was better. But since Mark left, we have fired managers and had no clue who was next six times I think.

Ryan lowe
48 per cent win percentage at Plymouth ( league 1) 2019 -2021 .
38 per cent win percentage at Preston ( championship) finishing 13th , 12th , 10 th . 2021 to 2024
Is favourite with the bookies ( 2:1) for new stoke boss .
Probably a sensible appointment?
But if we are going to make common sense appointments based on proven ability in the championship why not give the job to Johnny Eustace in the first place?
No idea who comes next but man management is everything. Oxford is not the first time, stoke players have conceded a goal and then spent half an hour ( make that 45 mins v Oxford) comfortably seeing out a defeat .
We need a man manager who is going to get the lads to fight.
Going a goal down to for instance Oxford then fighting back to pull a couple of top saves out of their keeper, hit the woodwork, win a few corners and fail to get the ball over the line AND LOSE is one thing. It happens.
But no reaction and comfortably seeing out another defeat AGAIN , can't go on.
Clever tactics would be lovely, but first things first we need a man manager who's players fight , win or lose .

Properly shocked when I found out, there's had of been some fallout we don't and probably never will know about. We are a basket case of a club, but this is nuttier that squirrel shit crazy even for us

So we are continuing to blight the careers of "successful" or "promising" managers.

We are a basket case of a club, but this is nuttier that squirrel shit crazy even for us The story running on the internet is that Luke cundle was schuey number one loan target and a loan was agreed with Luke and wolves and even Luke's dad came down to stoke for the signing but stoke pulled out at the last possible moment... leaving Luke , his dad , schuey and wolves very annoyed and hinting that Stoke were getting ready to axe shuey at the first opportunity . People say if you watch shuey interview after the Oxford game, you can kind of sense he knows what is coming. Would be interesting to know if the Luke cundle story is true. A proper journalist ought to be able to check this out? I would have thought?

That Carlton Palmer "interview" is a right mishmash of opinions. Still, its a bloody mystery.

It does feel a bit soon to me. New squad etc. Early season. I'd like us to have given him five or six more games I think

I reckon any of us chumps on here could win league titles with the squads he's had at Barca and Citeh. "Just go out and play lads."

Didn't really want to see Shuey sacked but he didn't fill me with confidence as a manager at times. You just have to listen to his pre match and post match interviews and it's as though he has no insightful answers. He didn't seem to know what to change to turn "wasn't good enough today" into improvement. It's just the same waffle each week. I started turning off his interviews half way through and not because of his horrible scouse accent but because win, lose or draw his interrviews were just boring.

I liked Schu and wish we’d have given him longer but I have to admit his team selection at times was bewildering and some substitutions were just weird. Overall I think he improved us but he’s gone now and that’s the end of it.
Let’s see what the new bloke does…

Shuey has released a statement about his sacking. I copied and pasted it from a Sentinel article that was full of other crap and shitty adverts.
The world according to Schumacher....
“It came as a huge shock to me and my family to be told I had lost my job at Stoke City FC. The coaching staff and I have worked tirelessly over the last nine months and for our journey at the club to be cut short is hugely disappointing.
“Our objective last season was to keep the club in the EFL Championship. We achieved what we set out to and the way that we ended the season gave me great confidence that we could achieve this season’s objectives.
“We tried to create an atmosphere where everyone enjoyed coming to work and committed to giving 100% every day. We won seven of our last ten competitive games, and started this season by winning four of the opening seven fixtures. In my opinion, after an encouraging start, we were only going to get better and I believe the squad assembled for this season will go on to do really well. I would like to thank the players for their efforts and wish them all the very best for the future.
“It was clear that my vision of selecting young, hungry and energetic players to represent this great club was beginning to come to fruition. In playing the youngest ever Stoke City team in the Carabao Cup, we won the game by the highest margin away from home in 70 years. Following that feat I picked the youngest ever starting league team away at Plymouth Argyle. Unfortunately, the club have chosen to go in a different direction however, I thank the Coates family for giving me the opportunity to work at Stoke City FC.
“Finally to the Stoke City FC fans. Thank you
