One further comment on Norwich, The pre-game snow ball fight on 1st of Feb 2003 could easily have turned ugly ;D

wow this threads gone very off topic, apart from the original post, and fulham, and shrewsbury that I haven't been to so I can't comment none are "civilised footy grounds" IMHO I suppose it's who you bump into on the day, as I said I've had trouble at Norwich, yet walked down the old kent road to Millwalll and not had trouble ........... after the match on New Cross station was a reet fookin battle though

"Civilised" is just a synonym for "gay", but of course I'm too young to remember the zenith/nadir of hooliganism so can't compare my opinions of hositility and civility to what you're on about.
I much prefer an atmosphere and banter and being a bit intimidated to the pleasantries of Craven Cottage and the DW stadium... Though I imagine I'd drawn the line at taking a brick to the back of the read.

I remember that, not that I went in the mens toilets or had a cheeky peek or anything. First time I went we were in the (then) third division and the away terrace seemed huge. It was a night match and it felt like there were only about twenty Stokies in the whole away end. It was so quiet and the game was so dull I actually fell asleep standing up. if that was in 92 I was at that match I was one of the 20, I lived a mile or two from the ground so went to all those depressing matches.

Have to agree pal, Norwich was a little surreal. We got there and walked into a boozer right by the river, decent(ish) ale and a fry up Walked through their town centre with the brother and he mentioned how nice the folk were. Even after the game when we marched the streets singing the SOM they were all laughing and enjoying it. Fulham as mentioned is very placid, Thun I felt humbled by their supporters and local folk in general. It certainly beat going to Crewe and Oldham back in the day.

When I was stuck in traffic after the game I spotted two young men walking away from the ground, I got the feeling they were mates, one in a Stoke top and the other in a Norwich top ;D

The only time i've ever been there it went off in the stands The last time I went to Watford I went in the works bus with a client in the back. I parked up trying to get my bearings, jumped out with my colours on and 3 youngish Watford fans ran across the road towards me. There's me thinking 'hey up,here we go',then they stop and say-'I wouldn't park there mate you'll get a ticket'. Handshakes and good luck for the match all round, and I'm on my way! ;D
