lesrosbifs.net/Decent site. Keeps you up to date with all Englishmen abroad, Dale Jennings, Marlon Harewood, Scott Carson etc. We should of gone for Jennings, I suppose with Bayern going for him, we had no chance, but he's been but in their 2nd team this season, whereas we could of gave him Premier League minutes from the bench and League/FA cup games.

Joe Cole will fail. Its interesting how not many Englishmen go abroad. Joe Cole will succeed in France, I think. A less intense league will suit him if he's fit.

I'd say 3 things contribute to the failure of English players abroad;
1. Language, we're shit when it comes to learning languages and pretty ignorant as well
2. Bloated self-belief that because the Premier League is "the best league in the world", other leagues are inferior and we can piss them all. Leads to complacency and laziness
3. English players generally go abroad when their top flight career here is over, so they're generally getting a bit shit (or in Carson's case, just a bit shit).
Although a young player like Jennings will probably be an exception to all of these (except possibly the first one).

I think Jennings will come back to England. He's never going to break Robbery(Robben/Ribery ) up and he could do better here. A team like Liverpool or Everton and he'd have a chance of breaking in. Just my opinion though, although the coaches over their really value him so who knows.

The Premier League IS the best league, we don't think it is we know it is. Barcelona and Real Madrid are fucking awesome, but apart from them two La Liga is pretty naff. Serie A isn't what it once was and although the Bundesliga is good, it isn't on the same level pace or entertainment wise as the PL. No need for an Englishman to go abroad when he has everything he needs here already.

No need for an Englishman to go abroad when he has everything he needs here already. It's not the best league in the world though. Bundesliga is a far better league because it encourages responsible ownership, high LOCAL grass roots intake to youth academies and a level(ish) playing field financially making it one of the most exciting leagues in the world. Rather than the PL where there are only 4 teams that can win it each year and no one else stands a cat in hell's chance. There have been 4 different winners of the Bundesliga in the last 5 years since they really started to bring in all these changes, before it was similar to the Premier League and dominated by Bayern Munich. The Championship is a more exciting league than the Premier League purely because it's open to anyone who can put together a good run of form no matter their budget. (see Brighton and S/ton this year and Norwich last year).

Agree, Donks...
Points between 2nd and 3rd in 2010-11 leagues: England 0, Holland 2, Germany 3, France 4, Italy 6, Spain 21, Scotland 29
Saw this on Twitter yesterday.
Just proves how much La Liga(and SPL) are 2 horse races.

Make a League XI but only allow 2 players from one team and you see just how strong the Prem is compared to La Liga and all others.
