Shutter Island. Fucking amazing 10 jizz/10. Annoyed at myself that it took me this long to watch it. This is how much I wanted to like Shutter Island, it fell short for me though

If you want to be put into a coma go to a hospital or something where there are medical experts, just have a nap in the Cinema if you really don't like the film. And by "don't like the film" I mean "already decided you're going to have the opposite opinion to the mainstream before you've even seen it". It's just another one of those 2 hour cliche's though isn't it. You know, one of those films 'ooh everyone must see' or they are worthless. "OMG you just must see 12 Years .... It's sooooo soooo ...... oh yes absolutely". Does it make you feel a more rounded humanistic individual having sat through it? Do you see the suffering of others through different eyes now? Do you nod to passing black people to show you empathise with their forbears suffering ? *tips fedora*

Fassbender is brilliant in 12 Years A Slave. Looks disturbingly like Christian Bale for half of the film though. Also the main character also plays The Operative in Serenity. Therefore it's the second best film ever.
I actually really enjoyed it, the story telling was excellent and it didn't make a mockery of the whole situation *cough*Django*cough*. Probably why a lot of people didn't find it as palatable as Django.
I actually really enjoyed Dallas Buyers Club but I can definitely agree with Dharma's comment about the lack of character development. I chose to think that it was because most of the characters had given up on living, but that probably wasn't the case. I thought it was meant to be a comparison to Matthew Mcconaughey's character to show how he planned to keep on living his life.
Shutter Island was wank. By this I mean it was good, until you realise what's happening and then it's shit. I guess if it keeps you in suspense for the whole thing then it's probably pretty enjoyable. I guessed the entire plot after 20 minutes though, so that probably ruined it.

Watched The Monuments Men. It was OK but disappointing. Great story, great cast but un-engaging and it felt like a huge wasted opportunity.

Btw, no to all the above questions. I'd love to see him as Bond

The Councillor.
Had absolutely no idea what this was about going into it and was non the wiser afterwards. Absolute clusterfuck of a film. Sat willing the film to develop about an hour in with some coherency. Fairly entertaining once you realise you're not going to get it.
Did finally appreciate Javier Bardem as I've never warmed to his acting before now.
5/10.

Agree with you there Sausage....didn't go to see it because I 'thought I should', went because I wanted to see it and make my own mind up, which I did...left the cinema feeling like Billy No Mates because I wasn't in raptures about it..for no good reason really. The acting was excellent, no disputing that, though what the fuck Brad Pitt was doing being shoehorned into what was little more than some sort of bizzare 'cameo/vanity' type role was weird. I'm going to make myself universally unpopular now by saying that, in my opinion, django was just as accurate in it's portrayal of slavery at the time - discounting the over the top peripheral storyline etc... So there you go, I've just trashed any film street cred I may ever have had on this board...but I just don't care.. ;D Monuments Men....crap.. As an aside, anyone watched Second Hand Lions...what a fantastic little film.

The Lego Movie. Awesome. 9/10. Sat through the 3D version with my 6 year old son. Felt like my eyeballs had been gang banged by frogs by the end.

Th Grand Budapest Hotel. I LOVED this film, another brilliant film by Wes Anderson. I think he might be my most favourite director at the moment.

'Starred Up' Decent, I enjoyed it.
Seen it described as 'gritty', but in my opinion it's pretty tame in places, when compared to something like Scum. It's probably a more realistic portrayal though and there's not really a bad performance from anyone in it. The plot seems to meander a little, but at least it avoids being overblown like a lot of films tend to be.

'Big Bad Wolves', Israeli Horror/Comedy that's actually really good.
And Tarantino called it the best film of 2013, so if you don't listen to me you should probably listen to him.

50/50
Seth Rogen and JG-Levitt, a guy in his twenties gets diagnosed with a cancer which has a 50/50 survival rate. It's actually hilarious in places and pretty emotional in others, much better than I was expecting. On Netflix, so worth a watch if you've got it.

Think I'm going to watch either Smillas Sense of Snow for the 4th time or Enemy at the Gates for the 5th time. Smilla because it looks gorgeous and I would like to lick Julia Ormond all over, and Enemy at the Gates because it is just fucking awesome.
Then again I've got The Runaways to watch too and I just love watching Dakota Fanning, she's a superb actress in every film I've seen her in.
