If you can't make your CGI look better than animatronics from 22 years ago, don't make the fucking film.

Well, that was a very frustrating film. Some terrible acting in the first few scenes. No one talked like real people, just like cartoon characters. The mother in particular, I hoped that her head would get skewed. This continued until Chris Pratt was introduced. I didn't expect to like his character either, or for him to be given a valid character to echo that of Sam Neil. But hey treated him really well, save for the appalling attempt at shoehorning romance in there. Chris Pratt was one that I really liked. until he appeared it felt like everyone was really stiffly reading from script. He was charismatic and the energetic source the film needed from becoming completely sterile. But yeah the love plot they shoved in there was completely unnecessary, even if Pratt did his part just fine.
The first 20-30 minutes I couldn't help but comment on how everyone talked like a cartoon character. Just things like the sentence structure, was like a 14 year old had written it. The Mother in particular- just awful. It felt like a bunch of normal people trying to act rather than actors acting, with over exaggerated speech and gestures. The female lead (Dallas-Howard?) was fucking terrible too.
It really starters feet as a horror movie, but is bought back down now and again with some poor characters and their heavy handed acting. The CGI was arse, the shot of the Raptor at the start in the egg, looked superimposed like Han Solo in Jedi when Leia frees him from the Carbonite. And they used the same shot twice for that sea monster too.
In 20 years time Jurassic Park will still stand the test of time. This will not.
5/10.

Watched "The Gift" last night with Jason Bateman, what a superb film. Highly recommended. 9/10. I called the 'twist' early on, so it felt a bit stupid when they were making a big deal about the reveal. Did you guess it straight away too or am I just a deviant?

Without giving anything anyway there were still bits at the end that impressed me, but it was always going to end the way it did.

Watched "Late Phases" last night, with the guy who wrote and directed the most excellent "Stakeland" as the main role. A superb werewolf film that deserved alot more praise than it received, Easily 8.5/10.

Best box office results ever so far apparently.
It'll take more than this to get me in a cinema (well over a decade since I've been).

Films on Netflix are often ever so slightly shit but there are also a few decent films too, hope this turns out to be one of them.

Rubble kings is another great watch on there. It's about the gangs in New York the Warriors was based on. Completely nuts documentary.

I think you Homs should give mad Max 1 another view, the proper Aussie dub version , those MFP cars are ace, I'd much rather have one of them than Max's black interceptor

Good recommendation there Enrico! The leading lady is quite easy on the eyes too I rate. Watching 'the party' with peter Sellers, been years since I've seen it. Classic film.
