ABBEY Clancy is discovering it’s a tall order being married to a footballer – and not just because Crouchie is 6ft 7in. The most glamorous WAG in town was nicely settled in London when hubby Peter Crouch changed clubs and she learned she’d have to move to, er, Stoke-on-Trent. Unfortunately, 25-year-old Abbey is not exactly potty about the Potteries. Advertisement >> In fact, she has described Peter’s enforced transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Stoke City FC as a “nightmare”. And Jamie Redknapp – whose dad Harry sold the lanky striker – felt the full force of Abbey’s ire at the GQ Awards. She hit him on the shoulder and said: “Tell your dad I wanna kill him!” As Jamie’s wife Louise stood by giggling, the player-turned-pundit promised to pass on her message. I caught up with Abbey, who looked stunning in a daring see-through black Emanuel Ungaro number, at the swanky GQ afterparty at London’s Royal Opera House. She told me she couldn’t face living in the Staffordshire city and had compromised by making a return to Cheshire, where the couple were based when Peter played for Liverpool. She also admitted that the switch couldn’t have come at a worse time – just three weeks after her mum Karen had moved down to Surrey to help out with their six-month-old daughter, Sophia Ruby. With a slight grimace Abbey told me: “Yep, I’m gutted Peter had to leave. I love London. My work’s here and we’ve been happy here, plus Mum just moved down. We can commute but it’s not ideal. "Having said that, we’re going to live back in Cheshire, so it’s not as bad. I saw Jamie and I told him: ‘I want to kill your dad!’ He laughed. It’ll be fine, I’m sure Stoke’s quite nice.” Apart from the potteries, there’s enough factory stores to keep “even the most avid shopaholic” entertained, says Stoke’s online tourist guide. So as This Morning’s fashion presenter, Abbey won’t be short of sartorial inspiration. She added: “I love doing that show. I don’t do anything special, just try to be myself and as natural as possible. I think in all honesty she's more put out about moving 'oop North, away from London and her work, especially when her Mum has just moved dahn Sahrf to help out with their kid. Nowt to do with hating Stoke or whatever.

I cant believe its becoming such a big deal; she has had a little kid, got her Mum to live down there and work etc and then within months of all this happening she's got to move 150+ miles away again; has she even been quoted in saying "I don't want move to Stoke"? or is it just typical journo bullshit trying cause trouble and try get us lot on Crouch's back?. Like its been pointed out; the only player not from the local area to live in Stoke itself is Mama; all the rest are on the outskirts or not far away where it's actually nice. If I had bag loads of money I certainly wouldn't be living here, no mind a famous couple.
