in the next 24 hours... 'Chris Hughton is expected to be confirmed as Birmingham's new manager in the next 24 hours, Press Association Sport understands. Hughton is close to tying up a deal to become Alex McLeish's replacement at St. Andrew's. ' www.football365.com/story/0,17033,8652_6999839,00.html

Superb for Birmingham City
I read earlier that he impressed the board with dossiers on every single player and having incredible knowledge of the club

The lad will be good for them.
Treated disgracefully by Newcastle-hope he does well.

Surprised he didn't get a Prem offer, to be honest. If I was a Villa fan I'd have preferred him to McLeish. Mind you the prefer ANYONE to McLeish! ;D

You can't go wrong with a bloke like Hughton, especially when he'd cost next to nothing, wages included Puts this reported £13mill for Villas Boas into perspective

No no, just comparing the monies as it shows how excessive the market is currently

From read I've read on Twatter, the Brum fans and press aren't impressed with the appointment and think they can do better! God and only knows what they're basing this on mind. He did a brilliant job at 'Castle and he should be a bloody good appointment for Brum.

If I was a Birmingham City fan I'd be delighted that we'd got a proven Championship manager
