For a good old knees up?; it might be dead during the day but the pubs and the ale around the place is cracking and that is Burslem.

Always end up in The Princess Royal in Dresden on Fridays. Excellent in there, lock in as well
Town on a Monday wasn't too bad, not a patch on Manchester mind you but I couldn't complain at 4 bottles of cheap WKD for a fiver and a bottle of cheap Champagne for a fiver in Manhattan

I'm becoming a bit of an old cunt now, used to love nights out 'round 'castle or up Hanley but for me afternoon drinking around the beer gardens of Penkhull and Stoke on a sunny day is bloody brilliant.

Used to be better while we were at the Vic (obvs, but I was just a kid then anyway) but it has some gerat pubs. Hanley is a better night out than Castle. Meir Heath has the best pub in the world in the Windmill.

Monday nights are all about The Underground, £1 vodka/whiskey and lemonade/cokes, 50p shots and the best music for a 50 mile radius. I'd avoid Manhattan from now on if I were you because the more I think about it the more it becomes clear that to leave my mark on this earth I need to improve it... and running into Manhattan with a bomb coat on during a night where it's full of those weird nu-breed chavs with gypsy fashion and detonating would definitely improve the world. I get drawn into there every now and then by attractive chav-girls and just find myself in awe at the state of the people that get in there, I fucking hate the place.

Haven't done student night for baaaaaare time but my missus informs me they stopped it a few weeks ago?
It's gone shit in there since Tesco opened anyway. Although I did pull my missus there.

I haven't been Hanley for ages but I think its boring; I can never get pissed and I never pull; but the best pub I've ever been is The Bear Tap in Congleton; love Beartown stuff and actually would of pulled in their if I had some money and went into town...she was fit aswell

I was desperate to go The Underground but the lads who live my way fancied Manhattan so I didn't have much of a choice due to lack of funds It wasn't that bad, definitely improved since the last time I was in there

The Underground is still open on Mondays and to be honest I haven't noticed any difference since Tesco opened (except going home with £15 worth of crisps and ready meals). It still gets busy, this Monday coming is going to be good with everyone back from uni, you can plan the best nights in Thunderground around the student calendar.

We seem to have this weird schedule of Sugarmill/Underground action which has been the same for about six years now.
April-Sept we get sick of the UG and generally stick to the Mill... Oct-Mar we get sick of the Mill and go to the UG.
I hate hate fucking HATE the UG smoking area with the fuck-off monstrosity next to it, as well as the walk and the well-lit, (partially) sanitised feel about it now.
Three quarters of the charm of the place for me was that it was this scrubby little shithole that was miles out of the way of the other clubs, down some deserted industrial street... Then they knocked all the other buildings down which ruined it, and now they've built that cunt-factory next door which really has made it an utter fraction of the club it used to be.

Yeah fair play, Thunders when you could smoke out the front and the ankle breaking walk down the 'wastelands/mens toilet' to get there made it the greatest place on earth. It did lose a lot of it's charm when they moved the smokers round the back and blocked off the wastelands but it's still the best club this side of Manchester. When Thunders was closed for a few weeks around February because of some licensing issue (Tesco pushing their weight around) they opened up The Mill to cash in on Thunders stranded crowd and it was dog shit, probably had the same amount of people you'd get in Unders spread over the 3 floors and it looked dead just absolutely no atmosphere. I only ever enjoy it in the Mill when I'm in a big crowd and it's heaving whereas I can enjoy Thunders wandering around on my own in a horror-mess.

For local bars / club piss ups, much prefer Newcastle. Much better atmosphere up there than there was up Hanley duck last few times.

I love it in the summer when the Mill just opens up the roof on a Monday. Lovely weather, free entry, £2 drinks, sorted.
And also, why do the Underground still stamp your hand when you can only smoke round the back, and you can't leave and go back in anyway?
