Ba must have been the first person in history to fail the Stoke medical. Can't really blame the board for not wanting to gamble 9 million on someone who is (theoretically) less fit than Ric.

I just hope that at the end of the season, Crouch has had a good one so we don't have to make the comparisons between who was the biggest gamble; the 31 year old for 10+ million, or the £9 million man with the phantom time bomb knee.

Didn't want to post about the game last night really. I was so bored i'd lost the will to type. Fucking stale abject performance, newcastle worked their bollocks off and deserved the win. The long throw was enough to put a whizz head to sleep. Tp ranting and raving on the sidelines like a crazed dad watching his kid play on a sunday morning on the park. Passes going wildly astray. Sort it out for sunday lads for fucks sake.

Firstly I didn't understand the booing of Ba. OK so the media went on and on about it but a) already scored against us when he played for West Ham and b) Stoke didn't sign him just the same as an awful lot of players. We need to move on.
Secondly Palacios MUST be injured. I can't think of any other reason why Whelan is still playing as his passing is dreadful.
Thirdly one of the biggest problems for me is the mucking about with the back four. We have got to get away from the idea that we can mix and match between Shawcross, Upson, Woodgate and Huth. If something works stick with it and if players have to sit on the bench so be it. Of course with the Shawcross injury that could be a moot point.
I'm not pretending to be happy with last night but, still eleventh ,doing well in Europa and I feel we can take Bolton on sunday. Go on Stoke.

I'm not pretending to be happy with last night but, still eleventh ,doing well in Europa and I feel we can take Bolton on sunday. Go on Stoke. Didn't Ba gesture towards the Boothen end after one (two?) of his goals? I'm in the Seddon so I couldn't tell, but he certainly ran to celebrate in front of the Stoke fans after the first two goals, so I gave him a boo (I gave him a clap when his name was read out before the game though.) Wilson being injured obviously contributed to the first goal, although he was seemingly marking two men at the time. I couldn't believe we put Upson on instead of Huth in the middle when Ryan went off, although I don't think he (Upson) played too badly. Ba's speed and physicality were causing Woodgate all kinds of problems; Huth came on and bossed Ba whenever he came out wide, we could have done with him in the middle putting the shits up him like he did to Balotelli at home last season. As I said earlier, it's unfair to judge Crouch and his goalscoring now, when we simply aren't creating any chances. Hopefully at least one of our wingers will find some form soon, and Palacios will create opportunities from the central of the midfield (re: WP, he's still getting fit I think. Didn't he have a knee operation that meant he had little to no pre-season? We're giving him plenty of time to get properly fit, because our season's going to live or die by how well he plays in CM. I'd expect him to feature on Thursday night.) The best way to sum up the game would to say it consisted of four dog-shit soft goals, with neither team creating much else besides. That said, it would've been daylight robbery if we'd sneaked another and held on at 2-2. The better team on the night won, and we'll put four past them in Geordieland later this season.

Just awful last night. I fear we're entering on of our 'spells' again when we're mysteriously wank for about a month or so. We're being hampered by playing so many matches in such a short space of time, the lack of any fight in our defence, the ineffectiveness of our entire midfield and Pulis' mind boggling decisions. I really wanted to like Woodgate, he seemed like a hard-as-nails, take-no-shit defender but it turns out he's an old, slow, weak as piss bastard that's not even fit to lace Huth's boots. I hate having downers on Stoke players but if he continues to get in ahead of Huth and Upson, despite his awful performances of late, then there's something seriously wrong. Pulis being a stubborn fucker will probably persist with the same players and tactics, though. It's going to be one of those shit periods I fear

Followed by huth being pit back at cb and higgy coming back when pulis finally realises that's our best combination, again. No coincidence our ace cup run came after Christmas (obviously) when the team became settled.
