I don't know when the patch is yet (some time in February at a guess) but the research needs doing for what has happened so far. If there is any players anyone takes great exception to or has any thoughts on what should be better or different I'm all ears.
A few likely changes will be to rework Begovic and Sorensen, despite the fact they're both decent keepers the way their stats currently are doesn't translate across into FM.
Ryan Shotton will get brought up to around the same level as Andy Wilkinson.
I'll probably make Woodgate a little less agile, but also lower some of his injury issues as he hasn't had anything serious as of yet with us.
Walters will get another minor bump up, this should then make him and Crouch the best partnership at the club.
Higginbotham I'll leave until late in the day, but I think he may be getting a few decreases if he shows he hasn't recovered from his injury.
Wilson will be made a bit better as a left back, after having played there mostly now it seems like the right thing to do.
edit: Balls, forgot the most important thing
Coates will be set to be an underwriter chairman. This means he will be in as a sugar daddy, not of the Man City ilk where you get cash endlessly. Unfortunately no one quite knows what figure corresponds to what investment (the combination of stats makes it hard to narrow it down to bands) but the aim is to get somewhere around £15 - £20m loss that can be covered by Coates.
In light of the Bet365 situation (where subsidising us is a tax break to bet365) the clubs £20m debt which was the last couple of transfer windows shall also be removed.

Haven't actually done anything with Stoke so can't really say (from the FM perspective) but most of those seem fair.

I'd say Palacios is much better on FM than in real life, but don't change that ;D

I'd say Palacios is much better on FM than in real life, but don't change that ;D Agreed, he's absolutely immense as a ball winning midfielder, still play him every game 4 seasons in. Shotton needs the bump obviously. Not much wrong though to be honest. What about our rep? Considering the high profile signings in the summer, I'd say we've improved rep wise, yet in the first season I lost out on a player to swansea, despite offering the same wages.

Palacios hasn't played enough for me to adjust his rating, so I'll leave him as the Tottenham researcher rated him.
The club reputation is down to the head researcher, however, there are a couple other reasons why the player might have gone to Swansea - most likely is the agent fee, if a lot of clubs are after a player bumping the agent fee up a hundred grand can be the clincher. Then the players signing on fee, percentage of next sale, wage rises and all other clauses.

Added a bit more into the original post, it was the conclusions of the head researcher and several other researchers about our current situation.

Thanks, on another note, I've only got a week until the deadline, so if anyone thinks anything else should be changed around now is the best time to do so.

Like Sam, I haven't played as Stoke but I did spend half a season there during the 5th season (2015/16). The club was in a financial mess, Coates had taken out loans of around about £40mill out to cover losses and then downgraded the Academy and training facilities to save money. Didn't seem realistic at all considering how he'd never let the club get in that state in the first place

Since then we've been back through it all and Coates will be in the game as an underwriter - this means up to a certain amount you can spend freely over and beyond and not suffer for it. I've hoped to get it into the £20m ballpark which is a reasonable amount, however, given that no one is quite certain how it all pans out there is every chance Coates could cover you blowing £50/£60m because underwriter isn't used very often, and when it is, its usually a change from someone whos been throwing money hand over foot like Man City/Chelsea etc. So Stoke are a test subject for how it works with a mid-range side who don't already have massive outgoings.

It'll be interesting to see how that works then. Could it be possible for Stoke to become a big team then once Coates is an "Underwriter"?

It has the potential, the facilities will still degrade over time, all clubs suffer from that. Whereas usually they reinvest to keep them at the same level obviously with the debt Stoke wouldn't have been able to afford this.
A lot more problems happened when Coates left, because usually the club wasn't making enough cash to sustain its current side and then when Coates left he then took out a further £20m with him. It meant often that under the game Stoke often struggled and suffered before fading away. I got one game in about 8 seasons, the club was saddled with £60m debt and that was despite me getting a couple of runs in the champions league.
