Stoke City football chief John Rudge hopes Diego Arismendi comes good this season.
The 23-year-old midfielder, who has a year left on his Stoke contract, appears to have one last chance to convince manager Tony Pulis after returning to the Britannia Stadium from a season-long loan with Barnsley.
"Hopefully the time at Barnsley will have helped get him into the rigours of the English game," Rudge told The Sentinel.
"I think Tony will have a look at him during pre-season to see if he can step up.
"I'm sure Diego himself will be champing at the bit to prove he can be a part of things here."

I sincerely hope he does step up and doesn't just see us as a shoe in to the Premier League. The reports from fans at Barnsley were that he was nothing short of mediocre. Now's the time he REALLY needs to start moving mountains to get into any squad.

I've seen Arismedi play for the reserves when he first came to Stoke and didn't he also play in a cup match for us? He's definitely got potental but when you read stories in the Sentinel about his neighbours complaining about him playing loud music and partying all night it makes me wonder if he really gives a shit about being a footballer and is just in England for a jolly up. If his attitude is right we might have a half decent player there.

I just can't see him being good enough going from what Barnsley fans thought

The half he played for us in the cup, he looked tidy and made a couple of really impressive passes, he went off at half time because of a knock though I think. Who knows what could happen, maybe Tone can get the best out of him, maybe he'll be a massive waste of money

We have better and younger midfielders from foreign lands.

Didn't he play in the cup game against Blackpool?
Looked alright from what I remember but that's 45 mins out of 2 years.

When he played for us against Blackpool, he looked really impressive but had no idea where he was supposed to be defensively. I suppose the language barrier didn't help. It's strange that our Uruguayan filthy destroyer (Uruguay being a country renowned for its impossibly dirty footballers) was regarded by Barnsley fans as being technically capable but a bit of a big girl. Arisbandit, they called him.
I really wanted this one to come good but I don't see it ever happening.

On my iPhone Footy Manger 2011 game he's just helped my Stoke side to the 2019 Champions League trophy. He's one of the best defensive midfielders on the game now.
