We shouldn't really be playing them, they should have just been knocked out of the CL and that was it, along with the Mancs and all the other 3rd place losers Fook UEFA I absolutely 100% agree with you... Though it doesn't hold much water with those who say we're there by losing in a Cup Final.. Fair point. The CL knockout one is fairer though.

Keep Pennant on the bench so we can have two wingers for the game on Sunday.

Stoke boss Tony Pulis left a number of first-team stars behind in England for the Potters' make-or-break Europa League second-leg clash against Valencia at the Mestalla tomorrow. A combination of injury and fatigue prompted Pulis to bring only 15 players to Spain, with Ryan Shawcross, Glenn Whelan, Marc Wilson, Dean Whitehead, Matthew Etherington, Jon Walters and Peter Crouch among those who did not travel. Robert Huth, who is serving a three-match ban in domestic football, is expected to play as Stoke attempt to overturn a 1-0 deficit from last week's first leg at the Britannia Stadium, while youngster Lucas Dawson will be among the substitutes. Provisional squad: Begovic, Sorensen, Huth, Collins, Shotton, Woodgate, Diao, Pennant, Delap, Arismendi, Palacios, Dawson, Jones, Fuller, Jerome. www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Stoke-take-just-15-players-to-Valencia-in-Europa-League-Shawcross-Etherington-Walters-and-Crouch-among-those-left-at-home-article869002.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

I'm guessing that the team will be; Bego Shotton Huth Woodgate Collins Pennant Palacios Delap Jerome Fuller Jones
Honestly not a bad first team. We've rested Walters and Ryan who've played nearly every game, dropped Crouch and Matty who were dogshit in the first leg and Wilson who's injured. Whelan's been unimaginably gash recently and I can only assume Deano is injured or on some sort of revenge vendetta (he's the only one I think we're wrong in not taking).

Going to get murdered down that right wing. Collins drops too far inside, even against the likes of Crawley. Then there's Usain Woodgate to cover him.
The rest isn't too bad, lacking that energy in the middle of the field to close down, which could be a massive problem.
The front line is brilliant though.

“I’m quite happy with what I have brought over,” said Pulis. “It will be a strong starting XI. I’ve got a back four and everyone is a full international, plus the goalkeeper. I’ve got three midfield players who are full internationals, two out of three forwards who are internationals, I’ve got a captain who has played for his country. It’s not a weak team.
“My big thing with this competition is that for English clubs, especially the so-called smaller clubs, I think, if you can find a little bit more time in between the games, it would help. I wouldn’t argue if it was a straight knock out.”

Who's gonna be captain then? Diao, Woodgate or Huth?

I'd rather have Pennant start on Sunday. With that in mind, I'd go: Begovic Shotton-Woodgate-Huth-Collins Delap-Diao/Palacios-Arismendi-Jerome Jones/Fuller

Woodgate, Huth and Collins, then, well, Diao is a defensive midfielder and Delap is a midfielder by trade.. I'm sure I'm going to be made to look a cunt here... ;D

Unless, when he said he'd got a back four of internationals "plus the goalkeeper" he meant three international defenders plus an international gk?

Didn't he play Arismendi at right back against Besiktas?
That could explain it.
