I dont know how shops like this work but i assume either they cannot afford to buy thw stock needed or EA wont give them the stock if theu work on a sale or return system?
Another one to go the way of Borders and MusicZone by the looks of it. This internet shopping has a lot to answer for.

They charge too much for what they sell. The target customer of Game and Gamestation now is not the average gamer, it isn't the hardcore gamer who will spend money on it if they think its worth it.
They rely entirely on the uneducated people purchasing games, mothers, grandparents etc. Game weren't even good value for money before you could buy games online or from tesco and asda. The choice basically comes down to shopping at Tesco/Asda or another shop that sells the exact same thing but with 10 - 25% on top.
At least a supermarket could try to argue about superiority with food, you can't argue about a game. Your game doesn't become better if you pay an extra tenner for it after all.

This was always only a matter of time. Who'd pay £45-50 for a game that you can pick up for £30 online or in a supermarket?

I haven't bought anything from GAME since FIFA 09.
Online is much easier and cheaper, plus you often get it a day early.

If I was at home and decided to buy a game that day I wouldn't drive into town, pay for parking, walk for ages towards GAME and pay £10 more for the same game that you could buy in a supermarket with free parking right outside the door.
I normally buy a game in advance anyway, knowing that I'll have nothing to do the following Tuesday or something so don't mind waiting. You could buy 2 games on eBay for the price of one of them on GAME, as long as you don't mind buying pre-owned (I couldn't care less if there's nothing wrong with it).

Game was pretty good for pre-orders, they always seemed to have all the 'bonus features' and stuff (like I got the four extra fighters on UFC).

Aren't they somehow linked to 'Best Buy' or something?

Aren't they somehow linked to 'Best Buy' or something? Not sure, I notice they always have the same pre order deals as gamestop. Don't know what that means ;D Electronics Boutique had something to do with them too.

EA will basically not supply Game because they don't have enough credit. Simple economics. Goodbye Game.

They're fucked, I predicted in October they won't operate stores by this November / January. I really feel for the people they've got employed there but Game (and hmv) operate under business plans that haven't evolved at all in about 7 years and have relied on customers that don't use the Internet / know any better / don't care about paying 50 quid for a game. People can do their own research easily now, Game have buried their heads in the sand. I've read a guy overseeing their staff trying to sell a secondhand non official non dualshock non sixaxis ps3 pad to some woman for 55 quid. Personal experience of laughing in their faces (not like a cunt) at their trade in prices, seeing second hand shite games for 25.99-35.99.
There's more stories coming out this week about them not stocking more games, some of the most important games so far this year and other stories that only spell one thing: they'll keep the stores open to get rid of as much current stock as possible.
By next year they will be another zavvii. It's bad but it's not unexpected unfortunately.
EDIT- electronics Boutique was the shit! It had the charm on the oldschool private fame shops but had good reward schemes.
Speaking of oldschool- can anyone remember that shop opposite Tesco (now go outdoors) in Hanley that had stairs going underground? Fucking loved that place, was it called the Powerdome or sommet like that? It was dark inside and smelt like a teenagers bedroom.

Both shops in Blackpool were closed yesterday, looked like they were packing up all the stock.
