Can't be arsed download it. Did last year, the demo was miles better than FIFA's but still fucking awful.
Won't bother trying out a PES game until the next console generation, they completely messed up everything this generation.

It's worth a few demo games, definitely
I like it. The turning point for me was in a friendly vs Italy and I was Portugal. Slowly building up from the back, gave the ball to Ronaldo and the entire move kicked into gear. It was poetic, they've got his animations down to a tee, as well as plenty of others
Takes a fair bit of getting used to though

Yeah Ronaldo's animations are crazy good, enjoyed it so far love the new dribbling and the ability to try and nutmeg people.
I love Konami even though they have made a bit of a mess of the franchise, love the early demo's and the fact they listen to feedback it's just a shame that so much in the game needs fixing, the goalkeepers although improved are still unbelievebly shite.
The Champions/Europa league license is still the best thing about the game and with the amazing Pesedit patches on pc the game is still worth playing for me.

Downloaded the demo.
Played 3 games, all of which were fucking atrocious bore fests. There were no commentators, the atmosphere was strange, with the crowd just making the same constant cheer for the entire match, the gameplay was even worse than FIFA's, the AI was just terrible with your team mates being as thick as they possibly could be, tackling is impossible, the movements are robotic, finishing is near impossible and no player looks remotely like his real life counterpart.
And all that after what felt like 2 hours wort of downloading.

The rest of the complaints sound like you're shit at the game and unwilling to learn how to play it. Did you attempt it without the assists on? Doubt it Then again, it's pointless saying anything about it because you've already got it stuck in your head that PES is shit and that's that. Neither FIFA or PES has been good this gen for me, can't get into either on a long term basis. Thank fuck for FM or my gaming life would've been nackered

Thank fuck for FM or my gaming life would've been nackered I think Fifa has been the better of the two this gen but I can still only play in patches. Thing is they haven't made a game this gen that has blown anyone away they both have massive flaws, when you think they've been writing on the same code for 6-7 years it doesn't exactly bode well for the new generation. Having said that, starting a fresh with a completely new engine and improving the base on which the games are built on could improve them massively. I think that's half the problem, the early releases this gen were both quite bad and with both franchises being yearly releases they kind of have to work with what they've got. I still think a mixture of the two games would be the best outcome. Or just re-make PES6 and make it look good ;D

I want to like PES, 5 and 6 were the two best football games ever, and I doubt they'll ever be beaten for the amount of fun I had in those, but now I just cannot like them, not because I'm a FIFA fanboi 4 lyf but because the games are just terrible. Its my opinion, FIFA this gen is better than last gen, and it is miles better than PES in almost every way.

Whether that'll help I don't know, maybe the physics will improve I must've put at least 10 hours a day into all the PES's before this gen. Pretty sad how neither footy sim has gripped me

No it doesn't, but then again it doesn't have to because regardless of how terrible it is people will buy it because it's easier to play, more fluid and makes for a better pickup experience FIFA's been better this gen but that's more down to PES being so far behind and struggling with this gen of consoles that it's pretty amateur. FIFA isn't that great, 10 was decent but it still lacked something that only a great PES game can give me like PES6. Hours upon hours of fun and playability. Neither franchise has given me that this gen

Read earlier that this demo was only 70% of the code which is promising. Been playing it a fair bit over the past few nights, learning the game and it becomes very satisfying once you learn what can and can't be done on this demo
Have a toggle around with the "Player Assistance" settings to try and get a more comfortable feel. Some of them will put the game on rails, the others will allow much more freedom but make it more difficult and you'll have to put the effort in the learn the game
Also, R2 (on PS3) and the Right Analog Stick are your friends. Hold R2 and muck around with the Right Stick, trust me, it's ace

Currently downloading, i'll no doubt do my usual mini review as I always do at some point. Can't wait to find some young Brazilian league boys and take them under my wing Also expect everything Jay and I say about it to be the same, that's the usual trend if I remember rightly! ;D Also i've got Fifa 13 to play tomorrow on the season ticket ;D Could be some serious time spent in pants with Dorito's this weekend.
