What an awful appointment. Its certainly a 'fuck the fans' appointment which is strange considering they didn't want Mclaren cuz of the fans views..?

Weird really, he's had anything but a successful season and is going to really rile up the fans. Even more so when he brings a load of his old players with him like managers do.

I can see him going there and doing a really good job!!
Then just watch the Villa fans change their tune... and rather than get upset about it, will start boasting it to the blues.

Villa fans are moaning about how Randy Lerner isn't interested in what the fans want. They seem to be forgetting that Mcleish is far down a list of managers he was after. He went for Martinez, Ancelotti, Mclaren, Hughes, Moyes, Benitez and Coyle before Mcleish. Idiots.

Is this the same Villa that had people rattling around on top of their gates the other day in protest? Nice one Villa ;D. Though we all know the powers that be shouldn't listen to their fans when it comes to managerial decisions, I hope he has a stinker.
He's sending you down He's sending you doooooooooooooowwwn Alex Mcleash, he's sending you down.

To be fair, out of his 3 seasons in the Prem he's only been relegated twice ;D

Alex Mcleish isn't a bad manager but the Villa fans seem to see themselves as a huge club. They think that they should be challenging for a top four spot and not what they are in reality which is a mid-table club. The ex-boss of their rivals is not the big name that they want and with the protests about his probable appointment will the fans get behind their new manager and team? It could be a long season for Aston Villa.... shame

He won't get them in the top half with their current squad IMO.

I think McLeish is a very average manager who only achieved a mid-table finish with Birmingham last season by managing to get Joe Hart in. How many points did he win them on his own? This year they lost Joe Hart and replaced him with an inferior goalkeeper and they went down. I really, really cannot see why they'd go to all this trouble just to appoint him. I give it 6 months, maximum.

This will be another situation like Brian Clough managing Leeds for 40 something games.
Only less entertaining and more ginger.
