That'd be very strong competition for the CB positions with Shawcross, Huth, Dann and Woodgate all pushing for the starting spots
But I'd much rather us spend this kind of money on two new midfielders, another full back, back up for Pennant and Etherington and another striker. It's a hell of a lot of money to just provide competition for our strongest area in the side

I believe we CAN keep Ryan, Huth and Dann happy. Woody will be cover, he knows he won't play more than 15 a season. Probably a few cup games and bench appearances. If Dann joins, it means we won't shit it when bids come in for Huth/Ryan, we would still have 2 young and decent defenders. Cup games(League and FA) Europe(at least 2, if we get to groups, what, 8?) And Prem If Ryan/Huth get injured or suspended, I'm more confident with Dann than Woody. At the start of the season, Ryan looked shakey. Another plus, when Ryan/Huth are off form, Dann can step in and grab the chance. £16m (Him and Jerome) 35k per week for both. Sorted.  |

It'll be good business if it comes off. Would Jerome coming then mean we wouldn't be interested in Crouch? I'd certainly hope not. Shawcross, Huth, Dann and Woodgate fighting for the CB positions with Jones, Walters, Jerome and Crouch would make our defensive and attacking options incredibly strong. We'd then need cover for the wingers and another centre midfielder and we'll be looking at pushing for 7th spot IMO.  |

We'd probably need about three central midfielders to be realistically pushing for 7th, I reckon.
Edit- in addition to at least two new strikers and a back-up winger who can play either side... And fullbacks would be nice too, then we can cut down to two CMs and use The Wilse as a CM.
Taylor and that Torosodis chap would be ideal as FB/Wing cover. I know Penkhull massively disagrees with this idea but I don't really pay much attention to him anyway.

Whichever way you look at it, 16million for them both or 8 million each, seems like a rip off to me.

Isn't it more like £12m for Dann and £4m for Jerome though? If there's anyone I trust with a large amount of money in picking a CB then it's Tony Pulis, and if he thinks Dann's worth £12m I don't doubt him for a second.
£4m for Jerome still seems steep, because he's shite.

Okay, my stance on Taylor/Torosidis as full back cover. I could see TP using them there. If Wilko, Shotton, Higgy, Collins, Wilson, Pugh were all injured. Would TP play Gareth Bale at LB? I'd love both. Taylor is great cover for Matty, and upgraded Danny Pugh, how many games does he get at LB? On to Dann, I can see TP playing Huth/Dann at RB. He should learn but he's just so flippin' stubborn  Dann - Huth - Shawcross - Ridgewell |

Jerome always scores at the Brit so he'd get 19 goals in home games alone  Bag a couple away and we're looking at someone who can score 20+ goals for us and people don't want him  madness. |
