They shouldn't be anywhere near the gaming sector.
Facebook buying Oculus is like PETA buying KFC.

Wasn't so long ago that Luckey was on about keeping Oculus independent. Guessing the $2 billion changed his mind. VR Farm Heroes. Fuck off.

What kind of person turns down 2 billion though? Not many that's for sure.

Someone that knows that they stand to make a hell of a lot more without them?
Oh, and Notch.

I reckon they've had talks with Microsoft and Sony in the past year or so about making Oculus the standard, but with their intention of making proprietary sets, vouched to settle on a 2 billion dollar payout.
As much as I want VR, proprietary will only hurt it going forward. Unless it's massively simple to develop for the 3 main sets and however many other companies jump on board.

Someone that knows that they stand to make a hell of a lot more without them? Oh, and Notch. They can still keep their integrity even with the facebook deal as long as they can produce the same product they have always planned for. Facebook can then have teams of people who piggyback off them and create multimedia versions whilst the gaming side is left to the original company, an original company who now have endless resources to create the product they always wanted. I'm actually pretty bummed that they have sold out but i'm hopeful that they will work it out and it reaches it's potential, vr that works will be the biggest change in gaming since 3D graphics and i'm so excited by the future.

Oh they can. I just don't trust them to do it. There will be an obvious bias towards social uses, and that's to be expected. I have very little faith in the industry or social media ownerships.
